Second in the new "founder’s series" of "craft beers" from Brick......
This one’s also promoted to be a "craft" amber and I’m sure they were aiming at Creemore’s niche’ with an amber, malty, sharp ale-like lager... but falls just a little short as it is more malt pronounced, but that may be to some tastes..............
Tapped as a bright amber lager with a good frothy 2 finger cap with fair retention and lacing...............
Aroma: rich CaraMunich malt sweetness and medicinal herbal tones.........
Medium bodied ...fair malt spine....sandy mouth feel.................
Straight forward 2 dimensional profile with the sweet toasty grains fighting the sharp cedar hops some light spicey phenols. Finish is mildly crisp and clean with good hop pronouncement and a light lingering biscuit/bready after taste I seek...................No "off" tastes found....
There are certainly quality ingredients in this brew and this batch had no diacetyl at all....a very satisfying malty amber lager in the sharp old Creemore style. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 25, 2006 Lightly hazed amber lager with a thin off white head. A rather sweet malt aroma, with caramel notes, a bit corny. In mmouth, I agree with dabosk that this is veering into Rickards territory in terms of taste. A sweet caramel malt with notes of diacetyl, and a bit more hops in finish than RR. Boring. daboskabouter (1470), Fergus, Ontario, Canada Sep 24, 2006 A sweet and slightly malty amber lager that is too spritzy. A touch of roasty hops at the finish does this otherwise fairly ordinary lager some justice. Too much like Rickard’s for my liking. iambeer (255), Ontario, Canada Sep 16, 2006 The best of the brickman series thus far for me. Quite drinkable, poured lots of foam not as sweet as many others in this style., hops are pronunced. beanmedic (324), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Sep 16, 2006 pretty good. nice flavours coming through, although pretty mild tasting. a nice standard micro lager. good as a go to beer. wanderingman (54), Guelph, Ontario, Canada Sep 6, 2006 Nice amber colour with a light, white head. Mild aroma of hops and grains. Taste is simple with sweet malts and caramel, bitter hops and grains. Simple and effective beer all-around. Brick does a good job of keeping it simple and produces another pleasing produce.
caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Aug 14, 2006 Nice amber color. Malty caramel aroma. Light breadiness aspect to the flavor. Syrupy impression. Lingering aftertaste.
