Previous to this the only pils I’ve truly found drinkable is Steam Whistle, but this one beats that one like a red-headed stepchild. Or a rented mule. Either or. Anyways, she pours amazing, pure liquid gold with a bountiful creamy white head, very light natural carbonation rising slowly. Aroma heavy in floral and hoppy notes with plenty of grains. Taste is pure, proper, Czech-style pilsener without the harsh bitterness I’ve become used to from the style. Very light in body with floral malts over the tongue and hops lightly tapping them on the way down. Amazing, I’d drink this anytime; after the Laker and PC debacle, Jim Brickman has won me back. However, Wow is this a nice clean beer! Pours a lovely golden colour with a nice white head. Smells fruity with some sweet hops mixed in. Mild tasting on the palate. At first, it tastes like not much is going on with this beer, but then it finishes with a well balanced bitterness. The aftertaste is really cool as it tastes almost creamy and leaves you smacking your lips until your next drink. Definately an above average pilsner or lager. Well done! | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 24, 2006 Bottle from The Beer Store. I just noticed this morning that I hadn’t rated this yet, which is weird as it’s my favourite of the three J.R. Brickman beers and has been a regular in my fridge since it was launched last month. Pours a clear, bright golden-yellow with a fluffy white head that leaves some great lacing. Fresh aroma of biscuity malt and grassy hops - perhaps a little light on the hops to be perfect for the style, but it’s close. Flavour follows the aroma - fresh, clean, well-balanced mixture of bready malt and crisp hops. Nice mouthfeel as well - good carbonation, but not that sharp fizziness that I get from many domestic lagers. Comparing it to the local scene, it’s not quite as good as King Pilsner, but it’s damn close. beanmedic (324), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Pretty tasty. the most notable thing is the perfect large fluffy head with the most microscopic little bubbles packed tightly together. It lasted the entire beer constantly bubbling up from the bottom the entire time. Hops come through quite well. very good. MrManning (1644), London, Ontario, Canada

Pours light gold, capped by a 1 inch cloud of tight bubbly foam. Heavy pils lace going on. Bubblegum hop aroma with good bread/cookie profile, malt and grassy notes. Light and pleasant hop flavours mingle well with subtle sweet herbal bread. Soft and gentle carbonation with a great lingering pils finish. I’m really suprised this is from Brick. Well done. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 17, 2006 Updated: Sep 24, 20063rd in the "founder’s series" craft beers from Brick. My luck to get some of the first release bottled that day...this is fresh beer. A clear light gold in the flute, rocky frothy 3 finger cap...lasts, great lacing on the glass. Moderate carbonation Aroma of bready-biscuity carapils malts over some light herbal Hallertau hops. Medium-light bodied....decent malt spine for a Pilsner...this does not seem to copy Brick’s anniversary pils in body and flavor profile, this is far more maltier and better hopped....soft mineral mouth feel ( Formosa spring water?) Flavor is a perfect balance between light biscuity malts and herbal woody hops up front, light lemony notes midway through, finish is moderately dry with great herbal bittering from the hops and wonderful biscuity snap that lingers into the after taste. Very flavorful for a Pils and very drinkable. Bravo Brick! This is a fine micro pilsner in the German style. ...Saaz and Spalter hops and some import malts added to the eclectic taste/character of this pils. For those of us who can’t get King Pilsner all the time this is a great substitute. I buy it regularly and recommend it to anyone who likes Pilsners.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 30, 2006 Purchased J.R. Brickman Pilsner and Amber as a bundle offer at LCBO. The final of the three Brickman Founder’s beers I’ve tried. This one poured golden with champagne-like bubbles rising from the bottom. Had nice lasting head with great lacing. Very crisp tasting; a good hop presence balanced with the malts. I noticed this one also had the slightest hint of that caramel/toffee taste as the other two. A great craft pilsner but I prefer the Amber just a tad more. caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 29, 2006 Subtle yet complex aroma, leaning towards the yeasty side with a doughy aspect. Silky smooth feel with a clean flavor. Hops start to come through in the finish. Surprisingly decent. I’d buy it again.
