Pours a little hazy deep golden body with a medium head. Nice and yeasty aroma. Rich taste of yeast and malt. Somewhat unpolished. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Alken-Maes’ reaction to Duvel, with which it is notoriously hard to compete. Snow white head, orange blonde colour; sweetish malt character, some equally sweetish fruitiness, spicy notes, mild grassy hop bitterishness and warming alcohol in the finish. Less complex than many of its congeners and to much to the sweet side, but not bad after all.

Strong fruity aroma. Clear golden colour with reasonable head. Nice smooth fruity flavour with excellent finish. Surprisingly light body with nice smooth texture and low carbonation.

330ml Bottle as a gift:
Light fruits & floral notes with some citrus too but this is quite light & I could detect light alcohol & grain. Some sweetness appears with some spice too & there is even some banana towards the end.
Clear light straw, almost golden with a 2cm foamy white head & great retention.
Spicy & more fruity that the nose indicated but also with more alcohol too. There is some grain, yeast & plenty of sugar with apple, citrus & grapes not far behind. There was a bit of bread & some sweet, almost floral like flavours too.
Spicy, tangy & a fair bit of alcohol. Hints of sweetness appear throughout with some grain. The beer was dry, well carbonated & nothing special really.

It was swings & roundabouts with this one really, it didn’t look great but smelt better, sadly the taste couldn’t improve on the aroma though. The beer definitely wasn’t a terrible one but I’ve had a lot better Belgian pale strong ales than this, Duvel everyday of the week over this one for me.
