Very nice fluffy white head with a copper brown appearance. The aroma is rather bitter and spicy. The beer is complex and dynamic. The first taste is very yeasty and tart. It is very spicy and full-bodied. Slightly sweetish finish that is very satisfying.

pilsnerrogge (2486) - Finspång, SWEDEN - OCT 11, 2002
Golden to amber colour, slightly hazy. Huge, dense head that dissipates rather quickly. Sweet, fruity, yeasty aroma. Sweet, warming, alcoholic, brandy-ish flavour. A bit sticky. I’d rather drink Duvel.

Kåstå (1273) - Mol, BELGIUM - SEP 6, 2002
Blond beer with a big head. Slightly sour aroma. There is also some smell of tar. There is a taste of spicey, aged beer. It has an interesting sweet bitter interaction.

A strong and warming beer, with a nicely orange/golden colour, having a touch of lemon and spiceys in flavour but not much of an overall taste

I like this strong beer with a nice aspect and aroma, even if its slightly bitter and has much carbonation.

Golden color. More a ’blond’ beer than a triple. Pretty easy to drink.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2011 Rerate: Orangepeel aroma. Golden, lowish head. Spicy, slightly candyish typical dry belgian golden ale yeast notes, full body, slightly sticky. Still, good balance and easy to drink. Old rating 15.7.2002 6 3 7 5 16 Golden with extremely high carbonation. a well-balanced seducingly light body without that sticky sweetnes other golden ales tend to have.

Strong, colourful and aromatic. Watery finish. No ’wow’ factor though worth trying if somebody offered you one.

jbrus (4992) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - MAY 7, 2002
Warm malty, fruit pear aroma. Dark orange/golden, large white frothy head, nice lace. Too watery, light sweet, malty, some hop somewhere. Short sparkling finish.

Not balanced well. For being 8.5%the strength comes through more than it should, lacks character.
