Bottle, 330 ml, poured into a tulip at home, while listening to Judas from Helloween on repeat. ABV 8.5%. Very clear transparent body, golden yellow in colour, with a nice two fingers tall, soapy white head. Good retention, light lacing left on the glass. Aroma is fruity, with belgian yeast and some alcohol notes. Taste follows the aroma, nice and fruity, with yeast, a bit of bubblegum too on the finish. Mostly sweet, leaves a light bitter flavour on the aftertaste. Medium thickness on the palate, good carbonation, maybe a bit above average. Fairly dry palate. Overall, nice and honest belgian ale, it’s what it is supposed to be and it will not betray you (get it?).

Bottle 33cl, BB ?. Another Alken-Maes wonder. Dorée, col blanc crémeux épais. Arôme est typique de ces bières fortes belges. Soit ennuyant au possible. Houblons nobles pour des notes citronnées et fleuries. Bouquet de grains, malt carapils. Palais est réchauffant avec un alcool bien présent. Effervescence est moyenne laissant des notes d’amertume houblonnées en retrait. Le tout sur une pointe d’épices qui renforce cette impression de réchauffement au palais. Bière des plus typiques, forte, malts entre pâle, carapils oscillant vers un côté breay-amer, légère pointe caramel en fin de bouche. Je n’accouche vraiment pas à ce fini alcoolisé métallique et carton. Bref, on s’ennuie, bière de bistrot qui trônera avec les autres boisons insipides des grands brasseurs.

Bottle @ home - gift from Brugge. Light gold. Superb tight white head and good lacing. Rich and sweet aroma with slight solvent character and even a hint of smoke – quite complex. Initially tart and very slightly sour in taste, good carbonation, an array of forest fruits - blackberry flavour and tartness stands out. Sweet and tart finish that lingers for a considerable time.

Bottle. Clear golden body, small white head. Nose is grape peel, pale malts, fruity yeast tones and white currants. Taste is sweet yeasty tones, bitter alcohol, grape peel and strong metallic hints lasting throughout the palate. Medium to thin body, despite the high ABV. High carbonation. Not too good.

330 ml. bottle. Golden colour with a dense head that fades leaving a small white cloak all the while. Smell of banana, citrus, spices and coriander. And earthy. Good body, dense palate. Taste of banana, honey, spices, some exotic fruits. Good an enjoyable beer, but beware and drink only one or you’ll notice the alcoholo in your head.

Pours a golden beer, clear liquid, with a minimal white head. Sweet aroma. Banana. the taste is pretty good. Medium sweet. Medium body, sticky texture. Carbo is good.

Bottled. pours cloudy orange with a small creamy snow white head. Aroma of fruity caramel. Taste is moderate sweet malty, some spicy elements, not bad all over.

Bottle@tasting (1999), 330ml. Head: white foam. Colour: clear, golden. Aroma: citrus, hops. Taste: bitter-sweet. Palate: mild, small bitter finish. Overall: nice.

Botellas de 33 cl. Color dorado, ligeramente oscuro. Corona de espuma abundante y densa. Olores a malta. En boca, entrada dulce, una carbonatación adecuada y un retrogusto ligueramente amarga. En boca, no se nota mucho el alcohol...pasados unos minutos, en la cabeza si.

Goudgeel, helder bier met kleine, voldoende filmende, witte kraag. Aroma van mout, specerijen, kauwgom, alcohol. Smaak is licht zoet, medium bitter. Prima bier, niets bijzonders.
