3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Guess what? My wife works with the wife of this brewer, they got to talking, and I ended up with a bottle of this beer. Poured into a 1/2 pint chalice. Black with a tan head. Biscuit and farmyard aroma. Leans towards the dry biscuit end of the stout family: Yeast, burnt toast, mocha some leather liquorice and soy sauce. Glad I enjoyed it so much, could have been embarrassing for the missus! Thanks to all concerned.

Cask conditioned handpump Wig & Pen Northampton 13/09/12. A black beer with an off-white to beige coloured quite tight head. Lots of dry burnt coffee in the nose. Initially quite watery in the mouth but then there’s a coffee edge. Husky, dry and a little burnt. Pretty nice but I’d like and expect more body.
