Rated based on notes taken 18 May 2013 -- Yet again another greatly crafted Hef that I thoroughly enjoy.

On draft. Pours a hazy orange-yellow with a thick white head. Much thinner mouthfeel than most hefeweizen. Very fruity and spice. A nice change of pace for wheats.

500 ml. bottle. I should’ve known to check the best by date on this before purchasing. Best by 2013. Ouch. I probably normally wouldn’t rate a bottle this old, but since it just showed up at a local liquor store recently, I’m going to. It pours a nice semi clear light golden color with a white head. The aroma is pretty lame. Doughy with some wheat and a strong cider quality. No esters. The flavor is a little better with some mild clove and bubblegum underneath some cidery and wheaty malts. Still very lackluster. Tastes old and stale, which of course it is. Too bad they let this stuff rot out in the marketplace.

500 ml bottle. Unclear orange body with an off-white head. Aroma is wheat, yeast and medium strong banana. Flavor is medium sweet, wheat, fruit, banana and yeast. OK average wheat that don’t stand out in any particular direction.

This is a bit on the fruity side for the style. It’s cloudy orange in the glass w/ big, long-lasting head of mixed bubbles. Ripe banana is up front in the nose w/ a slight mineral character in the background. This is slightly tart which bring out a bit of an almost citrus-like character. It is only a little sweet and full bodied but light and creamy w/ vigorous carbonation. This finishes crisply w/ more of that citrus character along w/ some lingering banana and some cloves which are emphasized by a slight bit of bitterness. This is not as vibrant tasting as the best of the style but it’s really a well put together beer overall.

Pale gold with green reflection, hazy, tall white, lasting head. Light body, faint flavor, refreshing mouthfeel, avg length, balanced sweet & sour finish. Slightly sweet, pleasant sharpness more than balances that, practically no bitterness. Delicate flavors, bready, citrus, malt, yeasty, Bland but pleasant, perfect digestive for a summer lunch of wurst on a patio. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a golden yellow color with a very thick haze cloud that has lots of sediment floating around. There is a thick white head that left plenty of lacing around the glass. Aroma is banana, coriander, cloves, and some spices. The taste is more of the same with some prickliness from the carbonation. The predominant flavor I am picking up is the spices in this beer. The mouthfeel is on the medium side. This is a great beer for the style that I recommend you try.

02.2014 best by date. Poured into a weizen glass on 12.30.13. A: Milky orange. Quickly receding head. S: Banana, orange, other citrus. T: Orange, slight banana, yeast. M: Creamy. A bit more watery than other hefs. O: This one is more subtle than some hefs. The flavors are a bit muted, but it’s good.

Cloudy yellow with one-inch white head and a moderate rate of decay. Aroma is lots of clove, biscuit, some spiced bread, hint of lactic. Medium body, syrupy-watery, medium-light carbonation. Slightly sweet biscuit, some clove, bit of salt, bread crust. Yummy Hefe. Nice biscuit and bread-crust notes.
