Cask at Vankleek Hill’s/Beau’s Oktoberfest (As A Train American Pale Ale). A hazy, pale orange amber with short lasting white head. Smells like a ton of citrus. Taste is sweet biscuit, caramel, oranges. Finish is very West Coast hoppy: orange, lemon, grapefruit...not overwhelming, but definitely felt. A real charm.

Smells lovely - some citrus and a fresh pine wallop. Some maltiness that is in sync with a decent but not overwhelming bitterness. Nice lingering bitterness that - again - is not overwhelming. Very nice, a new summer favourite.

473mL can from the libkcoe. Pours a clearish amber with a small beige head. Aroma is quite nice, the medley of malt character blend really well and there’s some perfume-y hops on top. Flavour is even better, the malt-medley is somewhat complex, and I really love the sweet biscuity character to the whole show. Finishes with some hoppy dryness that adds considerable balance. A finely crafted beer, I’ll have to pick up more.

On tap at beerbistro. Pours a clear dark orange with a thick white head. Aroma of toasted malts, jam, tropical fruits. Flavor is light and fruity upfront, lots of jam notes, with toasted malt and bitter hops in the finish. Excellent, fresh English pale ale. The malt and hops are well balanced.

Bottle from brewery. Pours crystal clear deep orange with lacing. Aroma is spicy, floral, and fruity; an interesting mix of American and noble hops. Taste is full of caramalts and floral hops, with a nice bitter finish. Nice full body. Enjoyed this one!

On cask at C’est What? Appearance: Ruby red, small dirty white head. Aroma: smells great, tons of hops, good maltiness, quite citrusy. Flavour: initially a citrus bite making way for a ton of hops, lemon, green leaves. Long bitter finish. Quite lovely.

September 22, 2012 - The Golden Tap Awards at Beer Bistro. Cask. Hazy amber-old with a smallish but lasting frothy/bubbly off-white head. Love that aroma - citrus, citrus zest, resin and a lot of ripe blood orange fruity malt backbone (8-). Taste follows, less juice, citrus sharp bitterness is less pronounced, there is a creeping dry spruce bark / leafy bitterness to it, almost a bit burnt - definitely has some alcohol (5%?? really?). Light body and carbonation (almost still), dry and astringent - grapefruit pith bitterness in the finish - solid beer, if undercarbonated.

August 27, 2011 - on draught at The 2011 Golden Tap Awards @ BeerBistro. Incredibly bright refractive gold, clear and refractive, with a decent white creamy head - lovely. Aroma is leafy, floral and a bit sweetly wort-y - smells like a mild ESB - tastes like one too; not much alcohol, the floral bitterness is pungent and almost overwhelms the light sweet malt. Thick, chewy, somewhat astringent, decently carbonated with a medium-long pungent floral finish. Pretty good - style?

can. Poured clear deep copper with a creamy off-white head. Caramel malt aroma with a hint of citrus. Medium body with a crisp mouthfeel, sticky moderately dry finish. Flavour of caramel malt, roasty and a touch earthy, spicy hops notes with tart grapefruit. A solid pale ale.
