Editor’s note - Hoppercar is a dry-hopped version of Conductor’s Craft Ale We used 5 different malts from Germany, France, Britain and Canada to give Conductor’s a biscuity, toasted, caramel base, and a combination of 5 different hops from Germany, the Czech Republic and the Pacific Northwest of the USA. To finish the beer we designed and built in-house a ‘hopback’ mechanism that infuses the hop aromas into the beer in line from the kettle as the beer goes into the fermenter. We use whole leaf hops of Cascade and spicy German Tetnanger in the hopback to provide a unique and intense hop aroma that is familiar but uniquely presented.

Pours a clear copper, and a huge creamy white head. Aroma notes include beautiful notes of citrus, caramel, toffee, and chewy malts. Tasting notes include rich caramels, toffee, citrus, and a delicate pine resin bitter finish. I always looked passed this beer, and now I wish I hadn’t! I think I might have a new go to beer!

Cask at Vankleek Hill’s/Beau’s Oktoberfest (As A Train American Pale Ale). A hazy, pale orange amber with short lasting white head. Smells like a ton of citrus. Taste is sweet biscuit, caramel, oranges. Finish is very West Coast hoppy: orange, lemon, grapefruit...not overwhelming, but definitely felt. A real charm.

Smells lovely - some citrus and a fresh pine wallop. Some maltiness that is in sync with a decent but not overwhelming bitterness. Nice lingering bitterness that - again - is not overwhelming. Very nice, a new summer favourite.

473mL can from the libkcoe. Pours a clearish amber with a small beige head. Aroma is quite nice, the medley of malt character blend really well and there’s some perfume-y hops on top. Flavour is even better, the malt-medley is somewhat complex, and I really love the sweet biscuity character to the whole show. Finishes with some hoppy dryness that adds considerable balance. A finely crafted beer, I’ll have to pick up more.

On tap at beerbistro. Pours a clear dark orange with a thick white head. Aroma of toasted malts, jam, tropical fruits. Flavor is light and fruity upfront, lots of jam notes, with toasted malt and bitter hops in the finish. Excellent, fresh English pale ale. The malt and hops are well balanced. 7/4/8/4/15 [3.8/5]

Bottle from brewery. Pours crystal clear deep orange with lacing. Aroma is spicy, floral, and fruity; an interesting mix of American and noble hops. Taste is full of caramalts and floral hops, with a nice bitter finish. Nice full body. Enjoyed this one!

Tall can. Pours clear amber with white head. Nose is citrus, spicy, floral, earth. Flavour is same with really nice malt balance. This is probably the surprise beer of my Ontario trip, wasn’t expecting much but everything came together really well. If I still lived here it would be a favourite.

Hoppy nose with some tropical fruits. Medium bodied considering the abv, long bitter finish. Surprisingly good!
