Black tan head. Smoked malt coffee aroma and taste. Prefer a little more body in a stout. Tasty but a little weak.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jjarovi (44) - markham, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 11, 2013
A good intro stout. Heavy brown ale is a better description, malty forward but very light body for a stout. Good balance and easy to drink - not usual for a stout but not bad. Could drink a few on a winter day but was expecting more heft.

Deep black-brown pour with a tight tan head. The nose is a little bit toasty and chocolatey. Light bodied and a little bit roasty. A touch of fruit along with some lingering bitterness. Okay - but pretty by the numbers
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 GregClow (2735) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 4, 2013
Bottle from the brewery. Dark almost-black with a creamy dark tan head. Aroma of charred malt, dark cocoa and a hint of smoke. Flavour follows with the same notes as the aroma, along with some slightly burnt coffee beans, and a surprisingly hoppy finish, Medium bodied, could use a touch more heft, but still good. A really nice session stout.

Pours black with mocha coloured head and carpet lacing. Pitch black. Aroma of smoked malt with a little booze and hops. Average carbonation. Taste is bitter, nutty. Tap at brewpub.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Spab (1638) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 26, 2013
Growler from the brewery. Pours an opaque, near black, very dark brown with modest light brown head. Aroma is moderately roasty with chocolate, coffee and some resiny hops. Flavour is quite roasty with strong chocolate and coffee notes as well as some lactic sourness and some bitter hoppiness in the finish. Really has a lot of character for the ABV.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 blankboy (5136) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 5, 2013
Growler from the brewery. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a large lasting frothy light-brown head. Nice aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, light leafy hops, coffee, cream and a hint of mint. Roasty flavour foremost followed by coffee, lactic notes and chocolate and a fairly big roasty/bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Big flavour for a 4% beer, I quite enjoyed it.
