   AROMA 4/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 4/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 8/20
wimpie133 (380) - Brugge, BELGIUM - MAY 17, 2009
UPDATED: JUN 6, 2009 Bottle, 25cl. the beer is served in a typical lager glass, but with ribbles, which make it look a bit ugly, commercial and does not represent high quality. The beer itself, however, looks very good: a very beautiful, clear golden colour, with some bubbles beautifully rising, and when well served a beautiful white had that lasts. The smell is a bit hoppy and a bit grainy, but is too weak. But you smell the beer, which is positive for a lager beer. The taste is hoppy, grainy, but also yeasty with a light bitter aftertaste. Also, the beer is not complex at all to drink. The beer has a light sharp taste, which some people might not like, but it’s a perfect beer to drink in hot weather: because of its dryness it’s very refreshing. This is certainly not a top beer, and there are certainly better lager beers, but for a commercial lager beer this is a pretty good one.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2009 Too dry and bitter for my taste. A fresh, hay-like sharpness with little respite. Smells like a beer should though and it looks nice. :-)

Pretty boring pilsner, butt good enough to get you drunk. Almost everyone in Belgium likes this.

Can in Ghent on the river. A decently strong and drinkable Belgian brew. Very good taste, and good ’ol summer day drinking.

had this on tap in Brussels at La Roy on Grand Place. Straight forward Golden colored Lager, no head, some lacing some hops at the finish. More than a Pale Lager.

25cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, not complex brew, yet refreshing, not balanced, clear, small head, nothing special

Looks very lemonady when poured from a bottle, little better when from tap. It smells very hoppy, which I don’t really appreciate. The taste is very watery and under-par. The rumored quality only comes from the wide availabilty.

HOPSHUNTER (741) - Tampa, Florida, USA - FEB 22, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 2, 2009 Poured yellow with quickly disapearing white head. Aroma was barely present. Flavor was thin and watery. Amazes me the amount of this stuff I’ve seen consumed in Belgium.
