2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle (fortunately only 0.25l): Clear, golden, small - slowly collapsing - white head; light sweetish-grainy nose with an illusion of citrussy hopsand a distinctive cardboardy touch; light sweetish-bitter flavour, light bodied with a mucous MF; increasing, but still weak, bitterness towards the grainy-cardboardy finish. Just another InBev gem........

Even Belgium has its lagers! In Brussels this and Maes was omnipresent. Why?

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draft @ The Bier Markt. Crisp yellow body with a fingers worth of creamy white head. (3+) Cold temperature dulls an already muted aroma - grainy/ grassy hops with mild herbal hops. Flavour is surprisingly sweet. Hops are quite floral, trace notes of buttercup and honey. Mild grains and bitterness show up in the finish, and linger in the aftertaste. Average palate is appropriate for the style. Dull.

Bottle, Indonesian restaurant, Antwerp, Belgium. Fairly run of the mill golden coloured lager that was a bit sweet, not that exciting and only selected because along with Maes was the only beers available in the restaurant.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
Clear gold. Yellowish, full head, very lacey. Grainy nose with DMS-cooked vegetables, chaff. Grainy again in the taste, musty, all muffled, vague flavours. Light bodied; all carbonation knocked out by pouring - flat and dead. Not even some bitterness at the end. The essence of boredom. "Men know why", the age-old, sexist commercial goes in Belgium. The other Belgian males seem to have a secret. They can st... it.
