3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20Tap. Bear’s Lair Brewpub (Berkeley, CA, USA). Thin head. Nice, dark amber/ruby color. Taste is noticibly hoppy, like an IPA should be. Hops dominates, but there is a strong taste of malt and yeast, which isn’t too helpful in an IPA. Carbonation is satisfactory, but lasts throughout the whole pint. Tried this as something new, but it appears to be VERY popular, as it is frequently tapped out. It used to be my standard tap pour at the Lair Brewpub, but, again, it is becoming frequently tapped out.

Aroma: Floral and some citrus, light caramel
Taste: Floral, light caramel and pine
Very nice and drinkable

On tap at the source. Pours with a clear orange body with a small, egg-shell colored head. Aromas are hoppy and a bit dank. Pine, subtle hops, esters, fruit and a slight hint of manure. Flavors are dry, medium bitter, somewhat subtle hop character. Citrus some fruit. Well attenuated. Could be a bit more assertive with late and dry hop additions. Still very drinkable, but their XHP has more hop character (although less bitterness).

Sitting on the back patio of Jupiter on a brisk December evening in Berkeley. A clean copper IPA with a nice fresh pine hops character. I really like this one. Well-balanced, a nice compliment to the atmosphere.

Draft pour at Jupiter. Copper-colored and sparkling. White head which is long-lasting and leaves great lacing. Aromas of citrus hops and touch of toasted malt. The palate is crisp and clean, effervescent, with a long-lasting finish. The taste is lightly sweet, but dominated by a pleasing citrus hop and peppery bitterness. Quite enjoyable. An excellent choice.

On tap. Clear amber golden with a small, off-white head. Peachy hops in the nose. Medium body, sweetish caramel and fruit. Has a good peachy hop bite in the finish. 120709

Copper red with a fizzy white head. Citrus hops and mild toffee aroma. Grafefruit and caramel taste with a watery finish.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Mild hops fruity aroma. Light fruity and toasted malt base flavour. Mild spiced hops palette. Medium dry and light spiced flavoured finish.

Draft at the brewpub. An amber beer with a lazing white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of nuts and caramel as well as lighter notes of grapefruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of nuts, caramel, hops, grapefruit, leading to a nicely bitter finish. Well balanced.

Draft at Berkeley location. They told us that Jupiter and Drakes are "one in the same" but this IPA did not taste the same as Drakes IPA. This was only "ok" Had a mild hop aroma and bitterness but nothing really unique.
