Our Winter Rye beer. Only 600 cases made of this mildly roasted, light bodied brew with an deliciously grainy, slightly spicy flavor. $2 or every bottle helps support the USMC’s 2/2 Warlords during their time in combat in Afghanistan.

This is easily my favorite of the Just Beer selection. I like the roasty frothiness. Good flavor and drinkability. I hope they make this again next winter.

Bottle at Chris’ Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia tasting. Deep amber brown, thin beige head. Some rye, some malt. Not much hop. Quite bland. OK, but metallic and touch bland.

22nd May 2010. ChrisOs ’Blue Ridge Mountains Of Virginia’ tasting! Clear brown beer, not much of a head. Sourish malt and rye. Finishes dry. Skewed sourness.

Bottle thanks to Fata2683: Poured a brown clear with light off white head. The aroma is sour spice and herbal. Taste is similar with sour herbal, rye, spice, and cereal. Very interesting flavor overall.

Courtesy of SHIG. Pours clear copper with thin tan head. The aroma is roasty with firm earthiness, sweet black licorice and earthy spicy rye. The taste is modest in strength of flavor offering up roasted malts, some grains, an odd sort of earthiness and sweet black licorice.

Thanks to Shig for bringing this one. Pours clear copper with a white head. Nose is slight coffee, malt, rye, grain, and general hops. Flavor is coffee, grain, rye, caramel, and hops. Interesting and light-bodied beer.

Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, rye, dusty, sweet malt, light roasted, earth notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100522]

RBWG 2010: @ Ravenous Pig. Poured a hazy deep copper color. The aroma and flavor matched up. Caramel malty flavor with a touch of fruit. Light spice. The body was on the lighter side.

Bottle at Chris O’s. Light amber pour with a beige head. Caramel and citrus nose, not much else. Fresh hops, caramel, toffee and butterscotch flavours. Light hops and malts in the finish.
