Cask@St Albans BF 06. Balanced between hop and malt as a bitter should be, this just felt a touch too light to get excited about. Some nice citrusy hops in the finish, but quite average.

Cask (gravity dispense), St Albans Beer Festival 2005. This was badged as Juwards Somerset Bitter (although shown in the festival programme as Juwards Somerset Ale) but I presume its the same stuff. The brewery has a very convoluted and confusing history, but it seems that it is back in production again. This is an attractive mid copper coloured beer with a resinous hop aroma and a dry, slightly chalky mouthfeel. Quite pleasant. Drinks easily.
