mmm///beer (546), Austin, Texas, USA May 3, 2008 12 oz. bottle poured into shaker- poured transparent golden yellow, big white head dissolved after 2 minutes, very slight lacing. Aroma of wheat, oats, and corn. Hits the mouth with a thin bitter body, very short sweet taste in the middle, finish has a bitter quality to it. Ugh!!! Yeah, it’s a HELLer bock alright!
BREWMUSKCLES (763), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Sep 7, 2008 more sweet and caramel like than anything else. moderate body it is somewhat refreshing with little hop character that is readily noticeable. of course the character of the brew will reveal that a significant hop presence is evident . different and sporting an appropriate name, this beer is demonstrative. curve ball in the alcohol this brew is a bit different and i would say sportingly so. mildly impressive. mcjay (31), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Sep 3, 2008 Golden color with an average white head. Light hoppy aroma with a smooth, slightly malty taste. Not very pale, not really a bock. Kind of just a slightly above average lager. scottw86 (103), New York, USA Sep 2, 2008 Poured a clear orange/golden body with a medium white head. Aroma was a little nutty with some floral hops. Pale malts with floral hops in the taste. Finish was not crisp like I expected. It seemed to linger on longer than it should have. Overall not the best representation of the style. Ritterkreuz (169), Seneca Falls, New York, USA Sep 2, 2008 Nothing great, but not bad either. Very watery, mild hopes in the flavor and aroma. ChainGangGuy (1536), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, golden body with a full inch of white head. Respectable lacing on the way down.
Smell: Sweetish pale malt aroma with a scent of floral hops.
Taste: Pale maltiness with a cereal sweetness. Floral, lightly spicy hop character with a brief, discreet level of bitterness, leaving the beer to finish as sweetish as it started.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Well, it’s okay, though it lacks the depth of character to continue my interest beyond the single 12 oz. bottle.
