Homebrewerguy (232), Oil City, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 25, 2008 From their new craft case and now simply called Dundee; This is a very fine porter with a nice roasted malt aroma and flavor that is not overpowering, still a bit lite as porters go, but it’s well balanced and tasty enough to deserve another. Good going Dundee. Sparky27 (430), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jul 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep clear reddish brown with 3 finger tan head and decent lacing. Nose is roasted malt, cocoa and mild coffee. Taste is dry powdered cocoa, mild coffee and some bitter hops in the finish. Medium mouth feel. Not great, but not too bad. Flavors get weird as it warms – drink it cold. zombywoof (276), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Jul 21, 2008 Updated: Jul 22, 2008Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Has a light aroma of coffee and chocolate with a slightly burnt quality. Mildly sweet with a little astrnigent bitterness. Lacks any complexity and seems a little watery. Carbonation is a little prickly on the tongue. As a porter it’s in the same ballpark as Michelob Porter. MrBeerFanatic (189), jamestown, New York, USA Jul 20, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a stagnant medium brown head. Smells ever so slightly of roasted malts with caramel almost dominating over it and a hint of grains and hops. Wow the taste here surprised me in a good way as it is pretty roasty upfront the a hint of caramel can be detected and also a little hop character. Pretty robust and a little rich all around with a good balance. I must say I really enjoy this one. Having had many porters I think this one is one par above decent. ansermadide (160), Kyle, Texas, USA Jul 20, 2008 (12oz bottle from sampler 12 at home on July 20, 2008) Great thick light brown frothy head that managed to gently flow over the edges of my glass.. this is how I like my porters to look. I didn’t know that to expect after not-so-impressive encounters with their lagers and wheat beers. This deep dark mohoganyy-colored brew is a nice change from Dundees. Lacing falls from its weight, seems slick against the glass. Smell is nice, too. Standard roasted malts... felt wet and almost watery on the lips, but then the taste redeemed it. Light roasted malt/caramel with light/barely noticeable hops. Pretty syrupy. Almost tastes like a cheap home kit, but not bad. Enjoyable aftertaste with the exception of their signature soapy metallic kick. SO much better than I expected. Palate is watery, but syrupy. Makes the cheeks pucker a bit. My fave Dundee brew so far.
