I had this cask condioned at The Blind Tiger ale House in NYC, it was brewed at Brooklynn Brewery in an exchange, I believe JW brewed a BB beer in england. I was in England last spring and this is very authentic, so I’m assuming it’s the same beer JW makes in England.

A lot of people don’t like Lees beers, and I can see why. They have a pretty unique flavour that has been described as “metallic” and “line cleaner” by various people I know. Agreed, it’s a strange flavour, but I think you either love it or you don’t which is usually a good sign in a beer – after all, distinctiveness is a positive attribute in my book. A golden brew with a faint hop and, well, let’s just call it “Lees” aroma! The flavour is dry and malty, some wheatiness is present, but the bitterness, “Lees-ness” and astringency take over and last into the finish. Sometimes some hoppiness is also detectable. I love it, others hate it. Just as it should be. (cask at Golden Pheasant, Plumley)

Slight hazy amber ... big fruit front .. followed by a soft juicy hoppyness ... little lemon ... little grapefruit ... soft smooth medium body ... little caramel malt in background ... little bitterness in linger...

Served a bit hazy and it had a hint of banana in aroma. Reasonable but that’s it. 5/3/6/4/10 (2.8)

Decent bitter, balanced herbal, slightly resiny bitterness throughout and quite a sweet, syrupy background easy drinking and decent.

Cask hand-pull at the Brown Cow in Bolton. Beep golden amber, clear, thin dense foam head leaving nice lace. Fruity yeasty aroma. Soft fruity palate, some yeast character with a mildly bitter finish. Very nice.

Cask at GBBF 08. A decent drinkable golden bitter, not outstanding in any way, but very solid and respectable.
