2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask Conditioned, at the Crosse Keys, London.
Brown with a scummy beige head. Negligent aroma or at least not enough to compete with the 25 packets of Marlboro Lights being combusted per minute. Thin malty flavour that struggles to the finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask: Dark reddish brown appearance. Coffee, fruity aroma. Smooth sweet berry flavor, coffee and mild chocolate. Pretty light on the palate.

1.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: APR 8, 2008 Oct, 2004 JDW, Rochester - Oktoberfest. Clean and refreshing with very light flavours. Next to the Swarz this is the one that comes over as a bland light lager. Champion? Huh! [2.4]
April, 2008 JDW - Rodboro Buildings, Guildford. A wishy washy beer of no character. A caramel-coloured weak wash through session bittter with few hops. Call it mild or call it crap. [1.5]

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask@Red Lion BF, Isleworth, London. Funny sort of flavour, quite woody. Deep brown, with ruby edges. Flavour is woody, slightly lactic, some powdered coffee and caramel. Palate is quite thin, and, dare i say it, watery, slightly salty finish. A bit odd.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
If served from a wooden cask, this is a superb brew. Similar to the bitter, in that it has a strange distinctive flavour that some love and others hate. Quite bitter for a mild, with a hint of sweetish caramel, a strange plummy fruitiness and a dry balanced finish. Thin bodied, but refreshing and moreish, just as a mild should be. Top stuff.
