Blah. I keep trying these JW Lee Harvest Ales trying to find one that I like. This would not be that one. Aroma was kind of weak for the style. Light fruit and maple syrup. Pour was a hazy murky brown with no bubbles, no head. Taste was very sweet. Strong maple syrup, walnut and caramel. As it warms a strong vanilla flavor comes out that plays on the deep wood and and maple perfectly. Very complex and tasty, but not my thing.

(275 ml bottle (2004) from Tully’s) Pours murky brownish amber - looks a little like unfiltered apple cider. Half a finger of biege head diappears mostly to edges. Big rich aroma of candyish malt, brown sugar and apple brandy. Mouthfeel is smooth, soft, almost buttery. Taste is big and rich - malty brown sugar and candy-malt dripping with apple brandy. You can "feel" the alcohol presence but it’s very well integrated. Nice hoppy bitter bite sneaks through in finish. This is one rich and decadent beer. Excellent.

(Bottle 27,5 cl) Courtesy of boboski. Slightly hazy amber golden with a small, rough off-white head. Aroma of alcohol, wood and sweet caramel. Very full-bodied with almost no carbonation. Very sweet caramel and vanilla and a smooth and soft oxidization. A hint of raisins perhaps. Absolutely no bitterness. 200608

2004 vintage bottle. Aroma of caramel, sherry, dark dried fruits, spice, autumn squash, and apples. Hazy apple cider hue with no head. Flavor is caramel, apple, sherry, cherry, and sweet/sour fruits. Palate is full bodied and oily flat. A very rich and decadent brew. Too cloying, sweet and sour for my tastes but good none the less.
