COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Only available filtered and pasteurised in bottles.
Matured in wooden casks of Lagavulin Malt Whiskey, one of the most distinctive malt whisky from the island of Islay, characterized by the strong peaty notes which should blend with the Harvest Ale to give an explosion of flavors.
This fully fermented ale has been brewed by JW Lees as a celebration of the brewers’ art. Harvest Ale can be enjoyed now or laid down like a fine wine for enjoyment to come.

Bottle split at the sleepy-rapping tasting at Ronny & Alex’s pad, CBC fine tuner, 30/04/15 picked this one up from the Charleston Beer Exchange. Lightly hazed amber with a moderate beige covering. Nose is toffee, lightly peated malt, spice, caramel, hint of vanilla. Taste comprises sweet licks, toffee, light smoke, shades of fruit, subtle peated tones. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet and sour notes in the close with light smoke and peat. Decent Laguvulin BA affair, good balance, barrel never over powers.

9.3oz bottle - first off I love Lagavulin Scotch and English Barleywines , so this was a no brainer to pick up . Rusty orange pour. Heavily smoked aroma . Sweet and glycerol upfront , finishes fairly smoky . Outstanding . ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

First off I'm a huge fan of Lagavulin Scotch Whisky so I was beyond excited to try this beer. This was a fantastic brew. Nose is sweet peatyness and a bit of smoke. Taste is wonderful. Basically the easiest way to describe this beer is carbonated Lagavulin without any burn. I really enjoyed this beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

[3/1/15] Draught at Beveridge Place Pub in Seattle. 2011 edition. Nice cloudy orange. Big peaty aroma with some fruitiness, a bit sourish, and oak. Sweet-sourish flavor with fruitiness, oak, lots of peated whiskey. Mouthfeel is slightly oily with a light boozy feel. Nice and interesting.

Bottle, 2012 vintage from Campus Fine Wines. cloudy light brown, like rooibos tea with a drop of milk. 1mm of tan head that fades quickly to a lightly speckled surface. Aroma is marsh/swamp with smokey brine and sea in the distance, burning hickory, some fresh leather, moderate caramel. Body is heavy-medium-heavy, syrupy with a delayed, medium-fine carbonation that has an arc of moderate burn. Flavor is lots of caramel, some smoke and brine, the aftertaste has notable hickory/apple-wood smoke. Some green sap, a touch of bark and cedar. Some strawberry jam in there too. Too sweet. The Lagavulin cask definitely makes up for it a bit, but I’m having a hard time giving it a rating in accord with others views on here and its price tag/reputation.

It has a bright clear gold/copper colour with a small head of foam that shrinks quickly but not entirely. Aboot a 50 50 mix of caramel malt and Whiskey in the smell. Dried pitted fruits make up the balance of the nose except for some light smokiness. Very very sweet up front. Whiskey moves in and somewhat tames the sugary sweetness but not quite. Hints of pitted fruits abound but never get that obvious to my palate. I feel the light peat flavour that I also get is a plus. Close to full bodied with light carbonation and a heap of warming after the swallow. 2012 and a goodish brew but I would be lying if I said I would buy it again.

Nip bottle courtesy of Theydon_Bois. Pours tiny hazy golden with no head. Smell is malty and tiny fruity with caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, raisins, prunes, peat and whisky alcohol. Taste is sweet, slightly bitter, malty and slightly fruity. Mouthfeel is soft, round, slightly sticky sweet, boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and slightly bitter with caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, raisins, prunes, peat, minerals and whisky alcohol. Heavy on the peated whisky but in this beer it really works. A treat!
