COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Only available filtered and pasteurised in bottles.
Matured in wooden casks of Lagavulin Malt Whiskey, one of the most distinctive malt whisky from the island of Islay, characterized by the strong peaty notes which should blend with the Harvest Ale to give an explosion of flavors.
This fully fermented ale has been brewed by JW Lees as a celebration of the brewers’ art. Harvest Ale can be enjoyed now or laid down like a fine wine for enjoyment to come.

2008 bottle. Pours a clear copper with small white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is toffee, dark fruit, whiskey. Medium mouth, lots of peat, dark fruit, smoke, boozy finish, good.

Gross. Golden pour from bottle with white head. Honey and piece of shit smell. Tastes like smokey whiskey. This might be good and I might not be in the mood

Like a shot of makers. Smokey boxy whiskey flavor. Aroma makes me sick. Pours light yellow with no head. Had out of a bottle at kasers

From notes (7/27/15). I may have had an off bottle -- floaties, sludge, and a harsh, oxidized taste -- but I think it was just age on the bottle. Past its prime now, although the whiskey aroma suggests some of the great flavors it may once have had.

This is the 2012 version and it’s good. The aroma was overpoweringly scotch, but way more balanced in the flavor. Carbonation was very light and while that can be expected in many BWs, I think a bit more here would have helped. More years on it? Probably mellow the scotch more, but also lose more gas, so a wash. I’d be curious to try one just to see, though. This hasn’t been one of my favs of the series.

Pours a medium copper color with a thin gaseous eggshell foam. Nose is peaty up front with deep honey and buckwheat undertones. Palate follows the nose with sweet toffee, honey drizzeled toasted waffle with a smokey mysterious earthiness in the mid to front of palate. The lingering smoke of the peat wanders into the finish with soft sweet hoeycomb nuances. Nice.

Aroma of oak, whiskey and a hint of smoke. Pours a hazy tan color. Amazing taste of a peaty scotch, with hints of malt and cigar smoke. Medium body with a smokey scotch finish.

A murky brown with a ton of floaties. Smell is smoky peaty from the Lagavulin, malty, woody, nutty, tomato. Taste is malty caramel sweetness, brown sugar, nuttiness, slight bit of ashy hop, some of the scotch but not near as much as in the nose. No carbonation, medium mouth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
