COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Only available filtered and pasteurised in bottles.
Matured in wooden casks of Lagavulin Malt Whiskey, one of the most distinctive malt whisky from the island of Islay, characterized by the strong peaty notes which should blend with the Harvest Ale to give an explosion of flavors.
This fully fermented ale has been brewed by JW Lees as a celebration of the brewers’ art. Harvest Ale can be enjoyed now or laid down like a fine wine for enjoyment to come.

Pours burnt golden and syrupy -- swirls in the glass with liquor viscosity. Touch of char in the aroma with some toffee notes and smokiness. Alive and fruity on the tongue ... peat peat peat ... and more peat. At first overwhelming, but then it backs off and settles to the backseat. Sweet and sugary. Overall very nice, but not as good as strait J W Lees.

2007 version tasted. Pours a beautiful rich amber with a fair amount of sediment. Fantastic aroma reveals apples, caramel, sherry and slight whiskey. Very well balanced, between fruit & whiskey with a toasty woody finish. Spectacular! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

"too aggressive on the pour, so we unleashed the floaties...and the beer is so thick they never settled. again, port/sherry like sweetness, just a hint of hops, but i really like the peaty smokiness in the aroma and flavor. it adds more complexity than the other barrels cuz it goes in a different direction. the scotch isn’t overdone like mikkeller black hole was. probably my favorite harvest ale...

Poured from a 9.3 OZ bottle into a snifter. Aroma- Strong aroma of whiskey and some smokey malt Appearance- A strong brown colored brew with a lot of sediment Taste- pretty good whiskey flavor mixed with the smoke, pretty unique experience for me up to now. Palate- full bodied with a sticky texture Overall- First whiskey brew, not bad but I think this style will have to grown on me as I experience more of it.

Bottle shared with awesome guy jheath99. Pours cloudy amber with small white head. Aroma of peat, caramel and booze. Tastes pretty much the same. Expensive bottle but worth the price.

Bottle to tulip (2005) Aroma of peat, oak, almonds, caramel, fig, maple sugar. Pinkish red brown, with no head and some particulates. Sweet, malty, and peaty, but no real strong scotch flavour.

Bottle - Vintage 2005 - Big rich malts, cereal and big oak notes. Cloudy brown with no head. Lots of apple sweetness, tons of oak and a long sweetness. The scotch doesn’t show up at all, although I do get barrel notes. Nice, but not the beer I was expecting.

Bottle sample at Yael and Nimrod’s. Thanks Nimrod. 2011 bottle. Clear amber and almost headless. Peaty aroma - delicate. Some green and then a little sweetness in the nose. Bitter taste with apparent sweetness and peat in the mouth. Smooth, round mouthfeel, full-bodied, no carbonation, honey finish.
