JohnQPublic (104), Brooklyn, New York, USA Apr 15, 2008 Pin Cask @ Beer Table, 2007 Vintage. Pours red-brown with minimal head. Aroma is heavy sweetness, thick honey, fruits, some alcohol. Taste is all kinds of sweetness -- honey, caramel, brown sugar, figs, dark fruits. Palate is heavy, syrupy almost, vinous. Coats the palate. Delicious for what it is, but a small glass goes a long a way.
Papsoe (9774), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 23, 2008 (Bottle 27,5 cl) Courtesy of boboski. Slightly hazy amber golden with a beige head. Fat, oxidized aroma with sugary notes of overripe fruit. Very full-bodied with a low carbonation and extremely sugary notes of caramel and fruit. Some fruity bubblegum also! No bitterness. 200608 hopdog (4454), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 11, 2008 2004 bottle shared thanks to Josh. Poured a deeper amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of wood, peat, lighter port, and some smokiness. Tastes of vanilla, vinous, caramel, and grapes. Sweet. TomDecapolis (2346), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 10, 2008 Thanks to Josh for this one, shared after having a 2003 and 2004 Lagavulin. Pours a deep amber with golden notes and small bubbly off white head that went away to nothing quickly. Aroma of sweet maltiness, toasted malt, molasses, port and nuts. Flavor of sweet malts, toffee, light smoke and earthy notes, dark fruits and caramel. wickedpete (514), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA Jul 6, 2008 Bottle brewed in 2004. Pours a lovely amber brown color, and no head really forms, only a mist of bubbles appears on the top. A sweet, tangy aroma, almost a touch of red fruit, a bit of soy sauce, and a warming alcohol bit. Flavor is sweet and sugary, with a noticeable port quality. Maple and toast come through in the silky wonderful body. The finish is amazingly delicate and smooth. yespr (5611), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jul 6, 2008 27.5 cL bottle. Pours hazy amber with a lacing white head. Dense caramel malt and a solid overripe fruity aroma. Flavour is sweet caramel malt. Holds a more smooth toasted malt flavour compared to the sherry cask and also distinctively more vanilla. Also a tad more dry and towards wineous.
