3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rauchbier (3205) - Isle Of Beer, - AUG 22, 2011
Bottle (filtered) from Morrisons Grimsby. Deep gold, thin shortlived white head and delicate condition. Soft, sweet and fruitily hoppy in the nose with some peppery spice notes, initialy fruity sweet in the mouth with hints of melon but quickly countered by a solid chalky hop bitterness. Gentle fruitiness lingers into the finish before a muted hop bitterness again returns to dominate.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 maeib (6645) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - MAY 6, 2012
Bottled 28/04/12. An amber brown coloured beer with a whitish head. A malty sweet aroma which has some sickly elements. The taste has leafy hops and is a bit wierd creamy. Odd and not altogether satisfying.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 ianwelby (19) - SCOTLAND - APR 21, 2012
A pleasant enough aroma, but past that it’s rather bland. Quite light, no real strength to the taste and doesn’t leave much afterwards either.
Inoffensive at best.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 joe19612 (1187) - camberley, Surrey, ENGLAND - APR 15, 2012
Bottle from Morrisons. Pours a brown colour with a thin white head, plenty of fruit in the aroma, the taste is malty with a dry bitter finish.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 9, 2012
500ml Brown bottle best before 27 July 2012, poured into a Batemans badged UK pint sleeve: an all malt brew according to the rear label, by someone called Marco Pierre White with the JW Lees brewery.
Light amber/bronze body, clear and bright, thin white head on top.
The smell was tinned toffee, a strange metallic aroma then!
The body was thin and the flavours weak, like the smell it had a metallic toffee feel to it, not a lot of anything else though.
In short: it was watery, bland and boring.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 planky84 (1248) - , Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 11, 2012
Bottle from Morrisons. Rusty orange pour with a white head. Citrus, coriander and soft malt nose. Biscuit flavours with hints of citrus and malt. Bog standard action.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Martin243 (249) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - MAR 1, 2012
500 ml bottle served cellar cool in a shaker. The colour is weak tea, and the head disappeared rapidly. Mild caramel aroma, dominant malt sweetness. Not enough of interest here, I won’t bother again. Might be a different prospect with an infusion of hops for a more lasting head and a bitter contrast.
4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 strawman (12) - - FEB 29, 2012
Pours a light copper, with a tight white head. Although the mouthfeel is somewhat thin, this is very refreshing, sharp and zesty. A bit of a metallic tang initially on the palate, which gives way to fresh bread like flavours and a little vanilla in the aftertaste. Really nice drop of beer.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Leighton (4100) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 21, 2012
Bottle at home in London after rowing 2k and running 7k (plus back workout). This is VERY refreshing. Pours clear, light brown with a small, off-white foam. Aroma has some dim, crispy bread and pasteurization. Light to medium sweet flavor, basic bready, lightly doughy malts, faint metallic and leafy bitterness. Light bodied with fine, tingly carbonation. Crisp finish, slight metallic tang, some faint toasty malts, faint leafy bitterness. That’s about all. It really hits the spot right now, though, despite the lack of depth.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 AndrewC (265) - Canterbury, Kent, ENGLAND - FEB 17, 2012
Lager malt if I’m not mistaken. Bit of bubble gum. Bit of tart fruit. Short bitter finish. Pale copper colour.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 sm89walt (1419) - Norwich, Norfolk, ENGLAND - JAN 9, 2012
500ml bottle. A clear amber coloured beer with a lasting one finger off-white head, decent retention, soapy lacework. General profile of pasteurised malts, sweet caramel, grain, some toasty, herbal, grassy notes in there loosely. Light to medium body, empty mid palate, medium carbonation, short & soft finish. Unlike Marco’s greyhound, I doubt this will break any records. Quite a dull, weak & run-of-the-mill pasteurised bottled bitter.
