This all-malt British beer created by Marco Pierre White and JW Lees Brewery, is named after Marco’s family greyhound that his father rescued. He started his racing career as Fearless, but having broken several track records was renamed The Governor. He went on to win 28 out of the 32 races that he started in Northern England. Raise your glass to The Governor and in the words of Captain Smith of The Titanic ‘Be British’. Hops used: Goldings

Full pint, hand pulled cask ale at Bridewell in Liverpool. Stable low beige head, dotted spots down the glass. Clear amber body. Malt-fruity smell. Caramel malty flavours balanced by leafy hops. A bit watered in the mouth. Decent partner to Fish & Chips (30.01.2015).

Flaske 0,5l. Påspandert og delt med flere under seanse på Tårnrommet 16 Apr 13. Gyldenbrun med en anelse rødt. Høyt skum som varer. Fyldig maltaroma. Smaken balansert. Mye malt. Først litt søt - deretter tørr. Blir litt for vassen.

Rather insipid and tasteless. I hope the chefs food is better than his ale. Generally having tried this on a couple of occasions it is very dissapointing. Get a craft brewer to brew it and you might get some flavour!!!

Not too inspiring. Bog standard bitter. Light and clean grassy hops coming through in delicious aroma and clean dry ending.

Light brown colour. Aroma of wood and apple pips. Flavour is quite malty and has a dry woody finish.

Pretty standard bitter, quite light with a slight bitter hop taste and some slight toffee on the palate

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Amber with slight head. Eggy, farmy nose leading to a boiled veg, bland, bitter body with a sulphate element. Poor beer in bad form.

Very smooth and drinkable, but that’s about all it has going for it. Really bland flavour and makes no lasting.impression.

Cask (handpump) at Great British Beer Festival, day 4 on 5 August 2011. Amber and not very interesting. Not a lot else to say. Nothing offensive here but, if I went to a Marco Pierre White restaurant and got served up food that was as uninspired and mundane as this, I’d be more than a little disappointed to say the least.

Marco Pierre White can keep this, it is like drinking from the dreggs tray.
