A style of ale that Ireland is famous for, our Red is brewed with wheat, crystal, chocolate, munich and pale malts. A well balanced, mild and easy drinking Irish ale with a smooth malty sweetness and hints of caramel.

Keg at the brewpub in Dublin. Red/amber with a very thin head. Nose is mild roastiness with some liquorice. Taste is very light spiciness, some mild coffee, plenty of sweet maltiness. Mouthfeel is quite full, with decent carbonation. Good stuff.

on tap. Smooth in the beginning. The beer starts malty with earthy hints, that gets more intense to the mainpart. Floral-smooth, caramel. The aftertaste is smooth, floral, sweetish-bitter. Nice for a Red Ale. 10/12/11/10

Pint at sweetmans. Caramel nuts not much bitterness. Carbonation is low. Unbalanced, and body too light

Tap at the brewery. Pours like a red ale should. Ruby red with a small, firm beige head. Nose is light floral hops and light toffee biscuit. Balance comes through well on this one. Floral hops with a sweet caramel base and dough. Solid

I thought this was too highly carbonated for a red ale. After pouring nicely the head took on a life of its own and grew up out of the glass, with various shades of off white. Strong malt flavor up front, and malty finish with little bitterness. Would have preferred more of a balance but it’s not a bad drink at all, just a bit gassy.

On draught at Sweetmans. No notes, from memory. Amber pour, off white head, looks great. Nose is not as pronounced as the rest of the range, toasted malt, hints of caramel. Flavour is more toasted malt and a little toffee sweetness. Quite light bodied, highly carbonated and not much of a finish. OK.
