Keg at JWS. Deep ruby with nice white head. Aroma gives caramel, some red berries and some earthiness. Caramel hits first up on tasting, followed by some nice fruitiness, earthy notes, and a bit of an orangey hop bite. Lingering caramel and earthy hop notes. Not a favourite style of mine, but this is one of the better ones out there.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: amber red, medium off white head. Aroma: sweet, some decent (and unexpected) hoppiness in there, malty too with a slight floral edge to it. Flavour: Biscuit caramel at first, good amount of hops then shines through, floral again with a decent sweet malty finish. If only more Irish ales were like this the reputation might be raised. Nice.

The head is ok, the body darkred. It smells malty-intensive, hoppy. The taste. The taste is malty, hoppy, a bit bitter-aromatic, flowery. NIce! 12/11/11/11/-/11
