COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 1999, Florida Ice and Farm introduced Kaiser to the Costa Rican beer market. Kaiser is a nonalcoholic beer produced through the separation of its alcohol by an “osmotic membrane” process using dialysis modules, so that the “mother” beer’s characteristics maintain a high level of flavor.

"Yeah, so sort of funny story to follow up that last review. I was buying brews left and right- I needed to stay hydrated! Anyway, this one day I buy sixer of it and I’m sitting in the hammock at the hostel, writing in my journal. And before I know it I’ve gone through the whole pack. Feeling alright, i leave and buy another. Finished half of it and then i think i bought some other biers too. I come home, and last night as I’m researching this beer, lo and behold- it’s an NA beer!! No wonder I didn’t get buzz. Im such an alcoholic. lol. ;)"

It is probably a toss up between this and Rock Golden Monkey for the worst beer I had in Costa Rica. Maybe this because Golden Monkey is not even really trying to be a beer, and this is. Kaiser is also made by Florida Bebidas, the country’s big croc in beer production. This is a cheaper release by them, and (something that is not clear from the label) is nonalcoholic. I do get a kick out of the Teutonic references in the country’s beer names - Kaiser, Bavaria, Pilsen. The fairly pleasant aroma hints that this may be a good brew, but no such luck. It tastes like a light grain tea. There are no hops to speak of, but there might be some wheat and rice. It is a touch sour and a little metallic too. I would not have gotten this if I had known it was a nonalc beer. Pretty close to rock bottom.

Why oh why did I order this with such a fantastic lunch....Looks great in the proper stemmed pilsner glass. Thick white head settles fast. Steady carbonation. Tinny bitterness elevates the unpleassant tartness of this crap. YUCK.

Can: Poured a super light yellow lager with a light foamy head. Totally dominated by corn and tasted just the same as the other 9 lagers being brewed by this brewer. Can really tell this is no alcohol but I can tell it isn’t really good.

Purchased a can of this beer to try while living in Tamarindo. The beer was not too exciting, a clear gold color with a smallish, foamy white head that had average retention and little cling. It had a sour, grainy aroma with some grassy hops and a bit of yeast. The beer was sour and grainy in taste, with some bitterness too. Average to low carbonation, and a thin, wet mouthfeel with some fizz.

Golden color, decent white head. Aroma of rye bread and mash, quite typical sticky low alco brew -aroma. Medium-bodied. Bready with typical low alco harsh, brew mash -flavors. A bit carbonated. Compared to Costa Rican lagers, reasonably drinkable (if you need to have non alcoholic beer) and flowless in the N/A category.

I didn’t know this was non-alcoholic until it was open and in my hand. Drank from bottle. Absolutely terrible. Worst beer I’ve ever had in my life. Avoid at absolutely all cost. Even worse than Corona. Entirely too much corn and yeast flavor.
