4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 scotty (904) - - NOV 26, 2011
SO dark, with an off white head. Lovely nose of coffee, malt and spice. Quite full bodied, good malty palate, with a clean citrus hoppy edge. Good beer!

Bottle pours dark brown with lingering beige head . aroma not very pronounced but traces of toasted malt . taste initially slightly sweet malt becoming more bitter and notes of black bread . carbonation is medium , body is a little watery . a bit below an average Schwartzbier for me

Eh I wasn’t too impressed with this beer. Weak aromas and flavors of chocolate, molasses and roasted malt. Looks like cola. Mouthfeel is highly carbonated but too thin. Overall I’d say this is below average for a Schwarzbier.

50 cl bottle. Caramel, roasty aroma and quite hoppy. Good aroma and better appearance, almost black colour, tones of pretty dark red/amber. Good brown thick head. Perhaps quite a weak flavour. Still, a very drinkable dark beer.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Swaroga (356) - Brussels, BELGIUM - APR 17, 2012
50cl bottle. Dark/Black brown with little tanned head. Sip ; toffee and dough notes. Vanilla cake. Floral. Sip ; Little sweet and a bit dry, followed with little bitter hop and long aftertaste with hints of sour/bitter coffee. Mild. Overall nothing special , big ressemblance to english bitter beers.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 10, 2012
Brown 500ml bottle, best before Dec 2011, drank and reviewed mid July 2011.
Deep rustic brown body with a cream coloured head which gave off loads of lacing on the vase shaped glass it sat in.
The smell was of sweet malty molasses, but not overly so, or sickly.
Initially I thought ’what a cracking flavour of maltiness’, but sadly the brew soon turned into a boring malty tasting fizzy beverage I didn’t like so much.
The body was weak in depth, even for a lager/pilsner based beer: almost watery in fact, even though it was highly carbonated.
Not very impressed.
