Swing top bottle. Dark amber color. Malty, buttery aroma with toffee. Malty sweet flavor, bready with a caramelly bitterness. Earthy notes. Medium to full bodied, so bready you could almost chew this beer.

500ml bottle. Clear amber colour with medium to huge frothy white head. Decent grainy, slightly caramel malty aroma with a hay note. Nice caramel malty taste, decent dry hop note. Inconspicuous but nice.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!
Im Glas steht ein helles mahagonie farbenes Bier, das im Gegenlicht schön leuchtet. Der Geruch ist süßlich karamellmalzig und leicht röstig. Der Antrunk erfolgt dann schön röstmalzig und angenehm würzig, dezent karamellig im Hintergrund. Der Abgang ist würzig süßmalzig und wieder mit leichter Karamellnote. Für mich ist das hier ein Dunkles. Gut trinkbar, auch wenn’s stellenweise etwas zu lasch geraten ist, vor allem im Abgang.

(bottle) pours a clear deep amber colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of smoked ham, honey, herbal hops, chewy malts and light hints of earth. flavour is mostly the same, lots of mild smoke, with some mild lactic acid and a barnyardy finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Bottled (thanks fonefan!). Copper colour with a mediumsized beigeish head. Aroma is sweet malts, some mild toasted notes as well as some smoked wet wood and nutty notes. Flavour is nutty, smoked wet wood, some herbs and mild caramelly notes. Mild notes of blood (metallicness) as well. A bit thin in the palate.

Bottled. An amber beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel as well as a touch of spices. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel - as well as light notes of smoke. I think it should be listed as a smoked.

Deep clear copper brown color, good beige head. Toasted sugar, some malts, iron and grassy hops in the nose. Crisp carbonation, reasonably malty for 4.5% beer. Flavor has light smoked malts, metal and some grassy hoppyness. Sweetish notes in the aftertaste. Interesting and very Bavarian.

0.5 l bottle, thanks Timo A! Toasty aroma wiht licorice, hint of smoke and hint of metal. Slightly sweet toasty and nutty flavor with licorice and hint of smoke. Tastes a bit stale (BB Oct 2009) but still fairly pleasant and drinkable.

Bottle 50cl. w. swing top.
Clear medium amber color with a average, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is light moderate malty, roasted, light to moderate yeasty, peat - smoke - rubber. Flavor is light to moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. [20090321]

Bottle 50 cl. Clear deep amber golden with an off-white head. Sweetish roasted malt aroma. Medium body, roasted malt and a whiff of caramel. Dry, lightly bitter finish. 210309

Bottle, 4.5%. Good malty aroma, some spicy hoppiness. Clear brown colour. Good malty flavour, hint of grain and a little smoke.
