3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Beershine (4766) - The Sunshine State, USA - JAN 23, 2010
UPDATED: JUL 23, 2010 Draft @ Cafe Brussels is better than location in Shenzhen. Pours opaque black with thick head and lacing. Chocolate syrup in the aroma. Has a sturdy body and good palate. Very chocolatey beer with good toasty malt character. If it’s kit beer it’s hard to tell, well done.
At Kai Wei Shenzhen. Pitch black, beige head. Mild delicate coal and chocolate malt but not roasty. Thin palate is soft. Nice flavors. Very mild and somewhat sweet but good. Clean dark malty fun with dry finish. Light bodied but perfectly fine. Caramel in nose and palate. 6-3-6-2-12
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 omhper (15965) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 18, 2010
Draught at Kaiwei Beer House, Shenzhen, Guangdong. Near black, small head. Full roasty coffee flavour, but a bit tart around the edges. Mid sweet with mediuk body and soft mouthfeel. Nice concentrated flavours of mud cake and tar. Fairly low bitterness. Except for the tartness this has huge potential. It took me forever to get the waitress to understand that I wanted the Black Beer. It’s difficult to imagine a more friendly and attentive staff, but the level of English spoken is somewhat limited...

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2010 2010, Cafe Brussel, Wuhan. Dark brown with a finger of foam. Rich aroma is full of chocolate, toffee and dark fruit. These characteristics carry through the palate with the accent on the toffee and those subtle fruits. Though it gets a little thin at the end, this is a nuanced, complex dark lager. 8-4-7-4-15 = 3.8
