Old_Mr_Crow (971), Seattle, Washington, USA Apr 25, 2008 Bottle courtesy of pantanap - thanks!
Pours a warm amber with a fluffy near-white head. I get the same DMS that after4ever notes, though to nowhere the same degree. Instead, Malty, malty nose, lots of toasted grain. Earthy flavor, plenty of toasty malt, mild sweetness, hints of those DMS vegetables but fairly minor, gentle earthy hops on the close. Easy-drinking and plenty enjoyable.
acrdz (4095), Pennsylvania, USA Jul 3, 2008 Hazy, murky, muddy glowing orange color with a small white head. Nose of semi-musty crystal malt, some cracked grains, some wet bread, a bit of orange-scented fruity hops as well. Full, chewy body, nicely done, some orange and caramel malt flavors, a bit of banana as well, even some lemon and apple flavored hops when warmer. Overall very fresh and easy to like. kmweaver (1770), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Jul 3, 2008 12oz bottle, courtesy of a couple trades. Thanks, guys! Pours a bright, candy-orange color; off-white head with patchy fine-bubbled lacing. Oranges, candy sugar, and some earthy bitterness in the aroma; pleasantly hopped, chewy nose. Medium mouthfeel: chewy candy sugar, oranges, and dried fruit; coupled to a solid earthy bitterness; pretty tasty stuff, and (from what I recall) quite a bit better than the regular Bell’s Amber; sessionable stuff. Medium finish: toasty grains, earthy bitterness, some husks; pretty dry ending. naivepegasus (136), USA Jun 28, 2008 Pours a hazy orange with a finger of white head. Odor of caramel and sweet malts. Frothy mouthfeel, taste starts with some caramel and ends with a hoppy bitterness. Very good. NobleSquirrel (621), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 28, 2008 Bottle at Kuma’s. This was kind of a nicer version of the Bells Amber. Lost of fruity/spicey green hop notes on a nice amber colored body. Taste has a touch of crystal malt to compliment the hops. Very well balanced and even-kieled. Tasty. RSRIZZO (942), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jun 21, 2008 (Bottle courtesy of Headbanger). Aroma is a mild sour malt scent. Color is a hazy orange amber with good carbonation and a thin but tight head. Taste is malty and bitter. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp. Finish comes in with a faintly sweet malt flavor that has a little roasted like taste to it, then a nice bitterness. After taste has the malt flavors lingering as the bitterness builds. This is a very tasty Amber Ale.
