COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To celebrate the 500th Anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ voyage of discovery, Kalik created this limited edition, extra-strength brew in 1992. While only a limited number of commemorative bottles were initially envisioned, Chalk Gold became so popular that it has been enjoyed year-round in the Bahamas ever since.

Bottle [345ml]. Pours a clear yellow-gold with a large semi-lasting fluffy white head. Sweet, boozy, vegetal and corny aroma, not pleasant by any means. Flavour: Ugh, that is not good. Sweet and boozy along with corn, grain and vegetal notes. Harsh finish. Average bodied. I’ve had better Malt Liquor for sure.

Noticeably stronger than the rest of the pale lagers, but not quite that traditional malt liquor flavor. okay.

Translucent gold with a creamy white head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation.

Aroma: notes of sulfur and skunk right off, that dissipate quickly. Sweet malt, with a touch of vinegar.

Taste: sweet pilsner malt, like a helles, followed by a corn oil finish. Not too bad for what it is, and some salty food ups the drinkability.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark gold body with a small fizzy white head that faded to a thin film. The nose is not the best, but it’s better than the regular and light versions of Kalik. Still a good bit of corn and a little wet paper, but there’s a little bready malt as well. The flavor is quite a bit heavier than the regular version, also a bit sweeter. Must have thrown in an extra bushel of corn into this bad boy. Not much noticeable alcohol, but it you can tell it’s a bit heftier than the regular. Medium bodied, a little clingy on the finish from the residual sweetness. Not exactly good, but a little better than the average Malt Liquor.

The big brother of your normal Kalik. More alcohol, but other than that, pretty much the exact same thing as it’s little brother. Typical Caribbean pale lager.
