Kalnapilis Pilsner, created using the old, traditional Pilsner recipes, has a mild and pleasant flavour. A glass of pale, light Kalnapilis Pilsner is a true classic. On any occasion.

500 ml can from LCBO. Pours a bright pale golden colour with fairly large white head. Aroma is slightly harsh grains and grass. Flavour is likewise. Slightly metallic. Count on the LCBO for another unmemorable European pale lager.

Pours a light straw yellow with a big white frothy head. Aroma is straw grains and corn. Taste is slightly skunky, german pilsner malts and light hop.

500mL can from the likkbo. Pours your standard fizzy yellow with a small white head. Aroma has some nice pils and pale malt character with minor metallic hop zing. Flavour offers some tasty pils malts with background hops. Body is light and fizzy but it doesn’t bother me much despite my aversion to overly-carbonated drinks. It’s nothing spectacular, even in the lager world, but it’s actually much better than a lot of other generic lagers available at the moment. For the price, I’d drink this again.

500 ml can. Very pale straw coloured brew with a fast-fading white head. The aroma is a little bit grainy with a distinct touch of DMS. Some lighter straight sulfur notes as well. Low bitterness and hop aroma/flavour. Meh - a pretty standard macroesque pils. Very light-bodied.

Obtained from ’Beers of Europe’, a 500ml tall brown bottle: best before 18 Dec 2011, poured into a German Pilsner glass (three times) during 29 October 2011. Typical lager/pilsner look, light golden, clear, bright and clean: this brew however had a head that tried to stay on each pour. The smell and taste is sweeter than a German Pilsner, hoppy, but not as dry or bitter as its German friends. The hops are floral and aromatic more than bittering: very easy to drink. I like sweeter beers, so this suits me, but I could see a Pilsner fan complaining it isn’t sharp, crisp or dry enough for his tastes. Pleasant and good enough to put up there with the better Lager/Pilsner/Helles style brews.

Bottle from Lithuanica store, Birmingham. Smells sweet, like rainbow drops. Colour is very pale gold, even for a pale lager. No head. Taste is pleasantly smooth and malty for a minute, but it does not last through the mouth and the aftertaste is like a phantom cloud of souring cake. Not really brilliant, but not horrible.
