A run of the mill helles pleasant appearance, refreshing taste but nothing outstanding. This is compared with other brews from Germany. It is only when you compare it with an average euro-fizz produced in other parts of Europe that you realise the consistently high standards of German brewers.

[bottle]
Very nice, potent malt with a touch of noble hops and faint hay notes. Clear dark straw with quickly dropping head that leaves some white wisps and ring. Flavour is bready and sweet malt that is made sort of crisp by a dryness and very subtle bitterness that come in late. Medium body, moderate carbonation, clean finish.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 heavy (1490) - Split, CROATIA - SEP 3, 2007
Kaltenberg Lager (Croatian version) 0,5 l can. Pours pale yellow body with relatively large white head. Nice aroma with citrus and grass hops, somewhat malty too. Flavor, as aroma, also reminds to the Pils, maybe even just a hint better. Palate is also fine, notably better and longer than Pils. Carbonation just great. A good beer.

Had this as König Ludwig Hell. Bottle looks good, the same as the beer in the glass. Starts hoppy-fresh, also quite malty. Wonderful spicy and keeps it till the end. Finish is milder, but not washy, still fine spicy and a bit earthy notes. Not bad!
