Strong helles with a malty focus.
Golden, medium body, thin finish.
Boring - not nearly Christmassy enough.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - DEC 23, 2010
Bottle, Beers of Advent day 23. Bright fizzing gold with a low white head. Smells like an unwashed dog, with background coinage, envelope and some salvaging hay and honey. Taste is a mixed bag with notes of hay, cooked vegetables and alcohol, leading to a cream and honey linger. Some metal and unpleasant, back of the throat bitterness in the aftertaste. Not convincing.

I hear your pain wyzzywyz (although I liked it a little more than you). They suckered me with a Christmas looking label and then didn’t give me any damn Christmas. Looks like a lager. Typical German maltiness. Just like a malty German lager. That’s it.

50 cl bottle, Sheffield, UK via The Dram Shop. Medium golden, minimal head. Pleasant but faint aroma of pepper, medium body with a sweetness and somewhat dry finish. Agree with other raters, not very festive.

Bottle, Ship and Mitre, Liverpool. Just how is this a winter/seasonal beer?
Golden, minimal head, little in the aroma besides grain. Sweetish, drab lagery flavour. Tedious beer. Avoid.

Bottle (Dank nach Garching!): Golden to deep golden coloured, bigger - slowly diminishing- - white head; grainy nose with a light acidic touch; flat sweetish-bitter flavour; more light than medium bodied; a tinge of metal in the moderate sweet-bitter flavour. Modest, not exciting Märzen..........

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a steady and slightly off-white foamy head. Moderately sweet malty aroma with traces of cara-malt, biscuits and shy notes of herbal hops. Light-bitter flavour, medium to light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Plain (cara-)malty taste with a whiff of biscuits and herbal notes. Bitter-sweet cara-malty finish. Boring Märzen (31.III.09).
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 JorisPPattyn (6748) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAR 14, 2007
Metallic-golden beer with a just yellowish tinted, cohesive head. Extremely grassy nose, very fresh, slightly leaning towards hay and warm, pale malts. Dry, very dry hayish taste, with a retronasal feeling of toasted malts, but fading away quite quickly. Better than average, however; Medium bodied at best, slight slickness. Pity about the fast fading taste. Initial impression is quite good, better than usual for this brewery.
