330ml bottle from Arden Wines. Steady-fizzing ruby capped with beige. Sweet toffee, prune, Dolly Mixtures and muscovado nose. Meat stock hints; Allsorts, cocktail cherry, prune, juicy sultana, muscovado flavour; heavy and sweet but the booze takes a backseat. Surreptitiously powerful with the brown sugar and dried fruit sweetness to cleave your head cleanly from your shoulders when you’re least expecting it. Good sessions beer.

Brown/red colour with beige head. Bready smell, but not really a strong smell. Some herbal taste, roasted notes, and a good bitterness, that last long. Full-bodied. Not bad.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 sankara (22) - Pisa, ITALY - MAR 24, 2013
---- A doppelbock decided. Brown with little foam, enters sweet, with a predominance of caramel, but comes rather bitter, with hints of toast. This dissonance sweet / bitter characterizes this beer and makes it special, in a landscape of bock which, let’s face it, you look a bit ’all. The alcoholic feel, but do not mind the final then, is persistent. A surprise for me, good.
