StewardofGondor (1934) - Washington Heights - Milwaukee, USA - MAY 15, 2006
Bottle. Translucent ruby and fairly calm, with a few visibly rising bubbles in the body. Dark fruit aroma rolls out concord grape jam on whole wheat, followed by craisins, plum juice, cherry/boysenberry fig neutons, fir trees and amaretto toffee candies. Flavor takes an interesting turn. Strawberry dust over graham cracker crust. Grape tootsie roll pops. A harsher alcohol dominion puts out flavors akin to a cherry blossom branch soaked in vodka. Other elements pull from maple bark, autumnal pipe tobacco and liquor-laden crème brûlée. Gentle carbonation, gummy stickiness and medium viscosity but maintaining a pressing harshness in every single sip. Alcohol presence and arid, stinging hop profile seem to override the malt bill. Alcohol clings and rings at the tonsils in the finish, partially sweetened by cherry-almond nips and spiced tobacco leaves.

Leighton (4100) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2012
Bottle shared with Elena, ever so discreetly, at the Vienna airport. Pours clear, copper-caramel with a fluffy, foamy off-white head. Rich toasty, bready caramel malt aroma. Strong and sweet flavor with lots of caramel, light toast, bread, some booze, slight leafy bitterness. Full bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Warming finish with some boozy sting, caramel, slight dry and toasted malts, slight herbal and leafy bitterness. A heavy-duty beer overall. Very sweet but the alcohol definitely pokes through. Decent.

Rödbrun öl med livligt skum. Doftar mycket malt, sött och fruktigt. Mycket maltig smak med inslag av hasselnöt och torkad frukt.

mcdav2154 (394) - GERMANY - DEC 10, 2011
Clear reddish body with a thin tan head that left quickly. Smells of syrup and roasted cereal. Taste is thick of malt and a alcoholic bite. Earthy. No lacing. Palate is sticky and long lasting. Good doppel bock but not the best.

Koelschtrinker (7066) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 12, 2011
Vielen Dank an AUCBURG1986! Test vom 11.12.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,10,9,8,12,10 - 9,55

LoFi (989) - SWEDEN - MAR 7, 2011
Bottle, best before 170810. Dark reddish brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma: sweet malt, raisins, just a tiny hint of buttered corn. Taste: raisins, dried fruit, warming alcohol, very malty, not exactly port I guess, but vinous. Full-bodied, almost moussy. Nice and warming.

Pours a dark chestnut-brown with a slight off-white head. Very nicely hidden alcohol and bit less malty and more bitter than similar doppelbocks. Very nice beer!
