On tap at Headlam Hall Hotel. 4.1%. Golden coloured, white foam head and grainy aroma. Cereal grain flavour with grassy bitterness. Light bodied, medium carbonation, dry grassy bitter finish. Standard lager.

Keg @ Cookies Bar, Halifax. Mid-yellow with a thin head. Has a good nose but lacks flavours.

Bottled 0,50L. Pale golden yellow color, discreet head of medium resistance, very good bubbly aspect. Malty and grassy flavour, notes of dried cereals, grains. Medium prickly taste, good alcoholic mouth with a refreshing bitter notes on the end.

Golden body with a white crown. Malty and sweet with a discrete bitter finish.

BlackHaddock (6384) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2012
Blue 440ml can, brewed under license in Blackburn, loads of life left when reviewed in May 2009. Poured into 0.5 litre Schultheiss straight glass. Very pale gold, clear body, with a tighty foaming white head, looked like a typical German pilsner. Aromaless, gets my normal 3 for a non smelling pilsner/lager. Oh dear, it is tasteless too. The can claims it uses the original pure yeast strain and is supposed to be hoppy, well it isn’t and they’ve wasted the yeast. Not impressed at all, weak, thin and watery. Had I realised it was only 3.8% and brewed in the UK I wouldn’t have bought the fourpack, I must wear my glasses when beer buying!

Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is malt, DMS and light hop. Flavour is malt, DMS and light grassy hop. Light bitter.

73P from Somerfield, good mid gold colour white head lasts well. Light on the nose, slightly grassy with hint of malt. Light in body and light on flavour, a hint of sweet malt. Not that bad considering the price.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2008 Can, sold as Londis own-brand ’Premium’ lager. Smooth and fairly sweet with a tangy finish and a hint of citrus zest. Rather a bargain.

Can from Morrisons. A golden beer that pours with a very large dense head. Aromas are sweet malts, grain and light hops. Flavours are light grain with some dry hops. Quite sweet with fairly bitter hops on the finish. A bit too smooth on the palate for me. Pretty bland.

Can. Gold, excellent long lasting thick creamy head and moderate condition. Low sweet malt and delicate hop aromas. Soft and malty in the mouth with a slight saltiness. Finish has traces of hop bitterness and dry chalkiness. Surprisingly inoffensive.
