COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Archa Beer is by nature suitable for archiving. It is made from roasted barley and three types of barley malt (Pilsener malt, smoked malt, malt and caramel malt, also known as chocolate malt). To achieve the bitterness and aroma we use special types of hops (Spicy Chalenger, Northen Brewer), which are significantly different from the classical Saaz hops, used in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Beer matures at a constant temperature of 2 şC up to 11 months, which is unique in Slovakia. Beer is served with sweet desserts, as well as with aromatic cheese. Optimal temperature for drinking is 12 - 14 şC.

Bottled. Really fine brew from Kaltenecker, with two, thoufh, harmonizing faces. On one hand, it is heavily roasted, with intense chocolate notes - on the other hand it is intensely dominated by hops, balanced on the edge of citrus and herbs-like characters. Thick, black body with generous, deep brown foam. Definately the best from the brewery so far.

Big dark brown head. Opaque black body. Roasty milky dry cocoa taste with mealy notes. Dry milky powdery cocoa taste with earthy notes. Full-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel with some heat. Dry resiny oily roasty burnt aftertaste with grainy notes. It’s not bad, but a bit harsh. (0.33l bottle, shared by Ole_R.)

Bottle: Thanks Cuso: Vintage 2011: Served in a Chouffe glass: With a small sshhhh the swing top bottle opens. Black pour. A very big brown foamy head on top of a pitch black colored beer. The aroma reminds me a bit of of a BIPA with brett: hoppy and some good roasted ingredients. To describe the aroma a bit more: hops, flowers, wild yeast, brett, hint of cardboard, roast, marzepin, hints of perfume, citrus, apricot, tar, carbo, some roasted malts and chocolate. Very nice aroma! Flavours of brett, hop, flowers, soap, citrus, apricot, roast, roasted barley malts, liquorice wood, bitters, vinous, coffee, wild yeast, light vinous, light wood, some coal bitter, grapefruit, hay roast, cacoa, some raisin and figs. Crispy and dark. Delicious! Aftertaste is a mix of roast, strong bitter, coffee, chocolate, some liquorice (wood), hops, some yeast and vinous notes. Low carbo, soft creamy mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture. Seems like one of the few dark beers were the brett does a good job. I really like this beer. Different approach, still very dark but also crisp!

33cl swing top pours a viscous black with some creamy, brown head. Nose is a little bit rubbery, smoke, molasses, toasted bread, some lemon, some pine. Quite a bit happening. Flavor is dry roasted coffee, raisins, prunes, burnt toast with jam, molasses, crackers, wheat chaff, light fruit. Full, dry finish.

330ml bottle - shared by rosenbergh - thanks!
Black, chocolate head. Sharp sour burnt aroma, yet strangely appealing. Taste is very sour. Very burnt. Most unsatisfying. I don’t like the sourness even if the roast is good, but you can tell it’s a decent brew that’s gone bad. Sourness accentuates the burntness, but not in a good way.
