2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 jonno (2013) - JAPAN - FEB 3, 2013
Odd beer. Conbini beer from a brewery I have never heard of. And yes, it’s spelt staut. Thin body and not overtly chocolaty. Some fruity noses a hint of raisin, but noting special. Solid but not too appealing.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 KyotoLefty (4736) - Kyoto, JAPAN - OCT 2, 2009
Bottle.
Black with a fine, low, chocolate milkshake head. Malty, chewy aroma, with chocolate, caramel, a bit of smoke, and some roasted malts. Sweet and creamy on the whole, with restrained burnt notes and just a touch of dried fruit. Light malts, rather fruity flavor, a bit of chocolate, wood, mineral water, and a good sour dose. Lacks the usual roastiness of a stout. A bit too fruity, and the body also too light. Not bad, but not really a stout. Too thin and fruity.

Bottle. Deep red brown with a medium tan head. Sweet roasted coffee aroma and flavours. A hint of licorice. A bit flat. Not much to write home about, but drinkable enough.
