Draft at 2nd Anniversary. Pours black with almost no head. Aroma is mostly coffee grounds. Taste is lots of coffee, chocolate, bourbon barrel and a hint of maple syrup. Rich, full and silky palate. On its own merits, this beer is delicious. Rook Coffee is by far my favorite in the area and it comes through in this beer. My only slight disappointment is that the coffee overwhelms some of the nuances that I loved so much in the original bottled version.

Bottle thanks to Dmac shared at Anchorage Feb ’15 Tasting: Poured a black with bubble head. Aroma is bourbon, dark fruits, coffee bean, sweet malts. Taste is very roasted espresso coffee and malts, with hints of bourbon, dark fruit, vanilla, and oak. My favorite of all the variances.

Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of espresso, roasted malts, a hint of vanilla and some chocolate. The taste was similar to the aroma with chocolate, espresso, caramel, vanilla, wood with a nice alcohol burn. Wow.

Bottle. Black pour, with a thin tan head. Roasty, black coffee, chocolate, bourbon, some raisin, notes of vanilla, and somewhat boozy. Doesn’t feel as hot as the regular version, nice sipping stout.

Poured a black color with aromas of coffee, light chocolate, vanilla, and more coffee. Flavors are the same with tons of coffee. Solid stout overall but almost the same as the other variants.

Draft at the brewery for the third anniversary party. (Not sure why this rate didn’t save 2 weeks ago). Black. Dark roasty malts with fudge, molasses, and dark coffee. A little bitter, with a big rich mouthfeel and low carb. Awesome all around but, the original is the best.

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pours tar-black with a small, creamy, well-tanned head. Good retention. The olfactory highlights include fudge, toasted coconut, acrid coffee, vanilla and bourbon. Full-bodied and silky with tickling carbonation. The flavor is a rich intermingling of bourbon, mocha, vanilla, toasted coconut and chocolate crème. Deep-roast coffee bean finish. Thanks to newcigarz for supplying this world class beer!

Bottle shared thanks to N8daGR8 ! Pours a silky dark umber color with a finger of khaki foam. Lots of creamy milk chocolate notes enhanced by sweet bourbon, round smooth coffee and some roasted malt complexities. Really enjoyed the mouthfeel on this bottle and the layers of chocolate goodness. Found the coffee to be a bit more subtle than expected but exceptional stout none the less.

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2014 Bottle thanks to Bobby. Pours oily black. Nose is perfect roasted coffee, bourbon, roast chocolate, fudge and oak. Touch of molasses/caramelized brown sugar. Taste is same with a slightly thinner than medium body. Velvety texture.

Coffee is very subtle in here, but it really seems to have sapped all of the carbonation out of the beer. For the most part, that’s not a bad thing, but it does lead to a thinner mouthfeel. Still the great chocolate and bourbon notes of the original ANTEAD.

UPDATED: AUG 14, 2014 This being a seperate rating? Coffee addition much better, coffee tends to cover a lot. Dark pour with no head. Very nice roasted coffee tones, seemingly less boozy.(although we know it isn’t)

^ was a draft rating. Bottle is just as good, probably the best of the three, roasted and coffee tones dominate.
