A Night To End All Dawns began life as an imperial stout and was transformed into a massive dark ale during 15 months spent in bourbon barrels. The extended aging allowed seasonal temperature fluctuations in the barrels to draw bold flavors from the oak that can only develop with time. The heat of the bourbon gave way to a subtle caramel sweetness, and the bold, sharp edges of the roasted malt mellowed and married with notes of vanilla and oak. Belgian Candi Sugar in the kettle created a layer of dark fruit complexity and a dry finish.

Bottle shared by madbeerbaron. Thanks. This is a super dark beer. Loads of coffee and chocolate with vanilla and a bunch of oaky bourbon. A little burnt chocolate cake and decent alcohol heat. Awesome.

Bottle... Hazy, nearly black pour with a small, creamy, khaki head. The aroma is fruity and vinous with underpinnings of whiskey, vanilla and chocolate. Medium-bodied and watery with lively carbonation. Although a touch thin, the flavor is burnt and bitter with plenty of boozy, red-hot whiskey. Acrid, carbonic finish. Bottle courtesy of landhoney!

Bottle. Awesome. On par with the best stouts out an I'm proud to say its local for me. Black with a mocha head. Sweet bourbon aroma thick velvety chocolate espresso taste with mild carb. Silk, smooth. Excellent. -- paired with a shot to sip of four roses bourbon that this was aged in. The alcohol is hidden but present on the aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Colinho. Opaque black beer, small bubbly tan head. Palate is light and a little dry. Fine carbonation. Light tang on the dark malts, Fair bit of bourbon and bourbon spice. Touch of dark fruits. Light dry finish. It’s a fun beer if somewhat fiery.

Bottle split at Bruce’s Pad, thanks to an IP with James (clockwork) 12/06/14. Light black with moderate tan spotting and edgework. Nose is a big bourbonic trumpeter, spice, booze, rich malt notes, dark chocolate. Taste comprises dark chocolate, boozey licks - a little harsh on this front, spice, dark toffee, molasses. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Ok impy but not overly subtle, a little harsh in places and a touch too hot.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Colin for this NJ rarity. Pours black-brown with a light, tan cream head. Boozy wood on the nose, some oily chocolate. Medium sweet flavor with plenty of alcohol, light metal, earth, chocolate, raisins. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish with more oily chocolate, light burnt wood, bitter scorched earth. Nice if a bit heavy.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours near black with minimal tan head. The nose is sweet, roasty, treacle, candy, salted caramel, liquorice and oak. The taste is earthy, roasted malt, toast, salted caramel, oak, earth, booze, candy, brown sugar, dark fruit, burnt toffee and treacle. Full body, fine carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. A bit hot and sweet.....

Pours a nice black color with minimal head. Bourbon, caramel malt, roasted malt, vanilla, and oak on the nose; follows onto the palate. A lot going on in this one. Very good.

On tap at Cambridge for PBW. I continue to be impressed with Kane’s beers. Pours a black color with light brown head. Aroma of roast, dark fruit and vanilla mixed in. Right up my alley and looking forward to trying the other variations.

Glass with Joe, Al, Eric, and Craig at Cambridge. Pours black with beige small top. Roasty bitter coffee, dark fruits, bourbon, and other richness. Similiar profile to bourbon county stout. Nice but not on a hot summer day.
