COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Apiary is a farmhouse Saison brewed with wildflower honey from Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Added at the end of the boil, the honey adds aromatics and flavors to a malt bill featuring traditional grains like oat, spelt, and rye. Saison yeast lends a proper rustic feel with notes of fruit and spice while finishing dry for a refreshing yet complex ale. In the farmhouse tradition, Apiary was brewed to enjoy during the summer and early fall.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a 1 finger white head. Aroma is tropical fruit, mango and a little honey. Taste adds a wheat like note, which I assume is the spelt. Didn't really pick up on the oat or rye. Honey becomes more prevalent as the beer warms. Medium creamy mouthfeel with a somewhat subdued carb. This seemed to be fairly heavy for a saison but was still very drinkable and pleasant.

Super strong ABV saison. Love the spice and fruit character. It?s subtlety earthy but mainly from the yeast. Hot from the alcohol but not evident. Choppy finish, a bit weedy. I did enjoy it enough to bring a growler home, but if it was all my call it would have been Drift Line.

Sampled at the RBSG 2014. It poured a hazy burnt orange color with a white head. The aroma was funky, with citrus, hay and grass. The taste was of lemons, oranges, honey, funk, grass and hops.

Bottle. Pours out a moderate golden color with a fluffy white head. Aroma is of peppery earthy notes, sweet honey, lemon and some mild spices. Taste is complex and clean, earthy grains, light pepper, lemon peel, sweet honey and some lingering bitterness on a rather dry finish. Tasty Saison.

750 ml bottle at the RBWG Grand Tasting, and I believe its apperance was the handiwork of MaxxDaddy. If it was or not, thanks, Max, for being you. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a white head. Notes of straw, honey, bread, funk, grass, and florals. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry, funky mouthfeel. Good, but not quite as good as the Brett version.

[ Bottle ][ RBWG Asheville Grand Tasting ][ 750mL ][ Globe ][ Free ][ 2/8/14 ]
>> Pours a low haze straw, weaker foam. Nose is fresh pale grist, farmy, raw, more of the grain forward farmhouse ale that seems to me lost in most saisons. Taste is fresh grain, no nonsense biscuit and cracker, fresh orange. Simple, but very good.

Bottle shared by Max at the RBWG Grand tasting, thanks! Pours a hazy yellow with a white head that dissipates slowly ot the edges. Aroma has a bit of honey with some sweet fruit, light bitterness, citrus and a hint of flora. Flavor has more of a grass and citrus note with a bit of flora and light fruits.
