COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tidal Series.
Drift Line was designed to bring an extra dimension to a standard American-style Brown Ale. Starting with a base of Vienna malt to add subtle toastiness, we add several English crystal and chocolate malts to develop some of our favorite flavors reminiscent of an oatmeal stout, but left out the roasted malts to keep it a Brown. Toasted oats add body and smoothness, while our house ale yeast ferments to a clean dry finish. We balance the complex malts with just enough hops to keep it form getting too sweet. Drift Line is perfect for when the long days of summer turn to the shorter, colder days of early Autumn here on the coast.

Style: Oatmeal Brown Ale

From memory from yesterday at molly maguires rumson -- on tap. Poured very dark for a brown ale. Aromas of caramel and roasted malts. The taste was a little bitter to start with a malt balance, a little chocolate and dark dry fruits. The palate was medium body but on the full side. Overall a nice solid brown ale.

Pours a medium dark brown with lighter highlights. Lots of light coming rough. Nice big white head. The aroma is sweet and chocolatey with some caramel mixed in. On the palate, the beer is pretty sweet with a touch of roasty astringency for balance. What it lacks in complexity, it makes up for in drinkability in spades.

Draft at the brewery. Cola colored with just a touch of tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. Taste is mostly oat and a hint of hop bitterness to start. Chocolate notes begin to appear as beer warms. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. Solid but unspectacular.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2013
Location: Draft at Texas Arizona, 1/3/13

Aroma: The nose has some chocolate and caramel malts, nutty notes, and oats to it
Appearance: An opaque dark brown pour, with a creamy light-brown head, and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: A mid-heavy malt flavor, lightly sweet, and similar to the nose, with an earthy, light bitter finish
Palate: The body leans full, with a creamy feel, it is fairly smooth, and finishes dry and roasty
Overall Impression: I thought this was a really solid Brown with a nice mouthfeel and some good heft. Well-made and pretty easy to drink. Nicely done.
