Head High is our interpretation of an American-style India Pale Ale (IPA). This beer is all about the hops; we use a blend of five different varieties all grown in the Pacific Northwest. A small charge of Chinook and Columbus early in the boil adds a smooth bitterness. A majority of the hops are then added late in the kettle or post-fermentation to produce a beer that is heavy on hop flavor and aroma. The combination of Cascade, Centennial, Citra and Columbus give Head High a noticeable grapefruit flavor with aromas of citrus, tropical fruits and pine. Our house American ale yeast ferments to a dry finish that accentuates the use of imported Pilsner and lightly kilned crystal malt resulting in Head High’s straw color and crisp flavor.

This poured a bright orange with a white head. Aroma was of dank oranges and grass. Flavor similar, medium bitterness, good, not great.

Growler thanks to dmac. Poured into my big boy mug. Aroma is citrus zest and pith. Cloudy orange pour. Large white head. Taste is moderately bitter with a pithiness and rind like quality, but not over bearing. Hop flavor is lemon, orange, and a touch of pine, classic american C hops without any tropical or dankiness really. Solid and enjoyable. A bit too carbonated to make is sessionable though.

Growler shared thanks to beerman6686. Pours a cloudy orangey yellow with a white head. Aromas of tangerine and pine. Some lemon. Taste is medium bitterness with a metallic aftertaste. Doesn’t finish soft like some of the newer IPAs. Starts the same though. Light body and medium carb.

a great hop forward IPA with lots of citrus hop character; light amber color; grapefruit citrus hop aroma; fantastic citrusy hop flavor with lots of grapefruit notes; fairly light malt base makes this beer all about the hops; dry, bitter, citrusy finish

At Witherspoon grill. Nice all around brew. Hops are prominent but well balanced. Nice flavor from malt and not overly bitter. A full palate.

Pours a golden orange-straw yellow with a one finger white head with pretty nice lacing. Aroma is of citrus (a lot of grapefruit), pine, tropical fruits (mango and and pinnapple), light dank hops, and some light grassy hops. Tast is very similar to the aroma with the addition of some very light bready malts and herbal hops. Has a medium body with a a semi creamy mouthfeel and a pretty bitter, long lingering finish. Overall, a fantastic west coast pa that gives the best IPA’s brewed in San Diego a run for their money.

Draft sampled at GABF 2014. Pours a slightly hazy orange body with white lacing. Aroma is pine and citric hops. Mouthfeel is nice overall with notes of fresh pine and grapefruit - standard fresh citric hop profile and it works really well.

Tap. Golden with one finger head. Very nice fruity hops. Crisp with light bitterness. Excellent IPA.
