Head High is our interpretation of an American-style India Pale Ale (IPA). This beer is all about the hops; we use a blend of five different varieties all grown in the Pacific Northwest. A small charge of Chinook and Columbus early in the boil adds a smooth bitterness. A majority of the hops are then added late in the kettle or post-fermentation to produce a beer that is heavy on hop flavor and aroma. The combination of Cascade, Centennial, Citra and Columbus give Head High a noticeable grapefruit flavor with aromas of citrus, tropical fruits and pine. Our house American ale yeast ferments to a dry finish that accentuates the use of imported Pilsner and lightly kilned crystal malt resulting in Head High’s straw color and crisp flavor.

Growler pour thanks to gimmethefunk Pat! Pours a hazy orange, 2 finger fluffy white head that breaks into decent lacing. Aroma is all hops. Pine, grapefruit, orange peel and some hints of mango. Taste is bitter grapefruit upfront with some pine essence following. A pretty light body that allows the hops to dominate. Not much sweetness at all. Finishes slightly boozy with a moderate bitterness to it. Very nice IPA!

Had a very hoppy smell, low carbonation. Citrus hops. Golden/orange in color, hazy, with not that much head. Taste was bitter, with a very very light sour after taste. Soft carbonation, medium bodied. Good Beer for a nice hot day!

On tap at Newark airport. Pours is a mostly clear good with a dense but thin head and lovely aromas that make me realize how much I have missed hops in the last week. Flavor is also just perfect after a long week. Not even going to make a stab at describing it other than to say it is perfect.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2014 Hazy dark golden color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, pine, citrus toast, and skunk. Taste of citrus, toasted malts, citrus, grass, and light grapefruit in the finish.

Keg at Newark Airpt, New Jersey. Cloudy deep golden, minimal head. Generous tangerine and gooseberry aroma. Mid dry with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Exceptionally rich on aromatic hops, with loads of citrus and tropical fruits. Long bitter finish. Probably the best beer I’ve ever had at an airport.

Pours a very light yellow with white head (but don’t let the color fool you). Has a strong floral hop aroma. Taste is strong with floral hops, pine and herbs. Finishes with a smooth and light hop aftertaste.

Growler. Pour is golden with a frothy head. Aroma and flavor are both of citrus and pine hops with some slight herbal qualities. Dry fruit in the finish.

not my favorite malt-bill for a pale ale and the hops get slightly obscured by the pilsner-type breadiness. well made and enjoyable, but not quite enough to be in the upper echelon for my tastes.

My wife dragged me to her friends birthday dinner in NJ, but was pleads Ty surprised to find Kane on tap since I’ve heard good things. Pours hazy yellowish orange with puffy head. Nose is wonderful juicy tropical fruit. Tastes of grapefruit, kiwi, mangoes, floral, pine, some biscuits. Lively palate. Really delicious ipa
