COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Head High is our interpretation of an American-style India Pale Ale (IPA). This beer is all about the hops; we use a blend of five different varieties all grown in the Pacific Northwest. A small charge of Chinook and Columbus early in the boil adds a smooth bitterness. A majority of the hops are then added late in the kettle or post-fermentation to produce a beer that is heavy on hop flavor and aroma. The combination of Cascade, Centennial, Citra and Columbus give Head High a noticeable grapefruit flavor with aromas of citrus, tropical fruits and pine. Our house American ale yeast ferments to a dry finish that accentuates the use of imported Pilsner and lightly kilned crystal malt resulting in Head High’s straw color and crisp flavor.

Draft @ The Spot. Pours a lighter amber with a pillow of a white head. Smack in the face with dank pine and citrus hops....im talking Macho Man Randy Savage(RIP) snap* into a slimjim style hops. The flavor is packed full with much of the same piney/resiny hops, caramel malts, and a finish that lasts for days. Insanely drinkable dispite the abv.....and thank you Kane for being so close to me! Outstanding and maybe one day this will be bottled for the lucky folk outside of NJ

Pours a hazy straw gold with small white head. Smells of pine. Taste is bitter and moderately sweet - grapefruit, a bit of spruce, some caramel.

16 ounce can thanks to Steve. Pours a bright copper color with a large white head. A nice citrus burst in the nose. Big resin, candied hops, pine, huge citrus hops. A soft malt backbone. Quite nice. Aggressive bitterness at times which I enjoy. This tastes more like a 10% IPA. Lovely.

Can at home from Ed5388. Pours gold with a lasting layer of white head. Aroma is citrus hops, somewhat faint. Taste is more of the citrus hops, minimal malts. Solid but unspectacular.

Can shared by Kyle, thanks! Pours a near clear light gold with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has notes of grass a and light citrus with a sweet grains backbone. Flavor has more of a earthy juicy citrus with some sweet grains and some light grass.

pint glass poured out of own pub keg. this single IPA is about as good as any IPA out there. beer pours a nice light orange color. citrusy smell, not too strong of a hop smell. However, the hops are there when you taste this beer. The taste is simply fantastic. strong hop taste with delicious citrus notes afterwards.

Draft. In the land of great IPAs this one stands out, it’s an extremely bright, refreshing and balanced example. Citrusy and tropical, slightly resiny, nice burst of floral and citrus in the nose. Dry and crisp at the end without overly bitter notes. Very, very good.

DATE: March 30, 2016... OCCASION: celebrating a gift card at the Tap House in Mansfield--with a second beer... GLASSWARE: 16 oz. pint... APPEARANCE: murky waters to start, with a light golden peach body denying any vision through it... as it is a draft and filed to its rim, the glass sports a singular ring of white foam... arcs form in the draining... AROMA: punchy pineapple, grapefruit and resin impact the nostrils... malts are suggestive of light metal and aromatic bread, but not pronounced... PALATE: smooth, with activity at the teeth as expected.... medium-bodied and formidable enough not to be consumed in large gulps... a rather bitter finish puckers the lips... TASTE: true to its aroma, the powerful collision of citrus (thanks to everything, but big nod to the Citra) and forest pine (thanks to the Chinook)... the resin retreats into a mostly grapefruit/ pineapple profile, which is bold, almost arresting for a beer at 6.5%.. OVERALL: Holy hops! After Carton’s Red Rye, this IPA arrived in a big way, clearing out the remainder of nachos and cutting the sharpness of cheese with nonchalance... a delicious, mostly fruity beer that works as a stand-alone or with a properly-paired meal, but not so much as a sessionable brew... a good introduction to Kane, one of the Jersey breweries others have urged me to try...

Cloudy straw color with white head. Served in a shaker pint so my aria notes are limited. Some tropical and citrus. Fresh and citrusy, Pilsner malt comes through. Very mild bittering with lots of Citra hop flavors. Very refreshing. With lots of citrus at the end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft pour at Mtc Office. Pour was cloudy amber with abt 1/2 inch of foam which dissapated fairly quickly. The aroma was mixture of citrus and pine. The initial taste matches the aroma, specifically citrus and pine, with an aftertaste of tar. The taste of hops is very subtle. A good IPA but nothing noteworthy.
