COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beligan-sytle dark strong ale made with locally sourced apple cider and autumn spices. Malus is a unique beer, specifically conceived and brewed to celebrate our inaugural bottling. It is inspired by a traditional Belgian style, but redefined by locally-sourced ingredients. We replaced Belgian candi sugar with local apple cider reduced in our kettle over several days, and used our locally-sourced house Belgian yeast for primary fermentation.

Pours a clear dark amber. Has a faint aroma of apple and cinnamon. A tart taste of apples, dark fruits and malts. A sour aftertaste. Not a fan of the tart and sourness.

Pours a dark brown color with a small head. The aroma is stone fruit and honey with characteristic Belgian yeast signature. Ver sweet and boozy with a raisin note at the end. Not bad.

Tried a sample at pour house. Clearish brown, small head and lacing. Gingerbread, malt, Belgian spice, dark fruit, apples and sugar are the main tasting notes. Way too sweet overall and pretty damn thin.

Sample from a 750ml bottle, shared by Dave and Pete at DLD 2013. Hazy red / brown darker body. Thin khaki head. Couple loose dots of lace. Bigger body. Pretty smooth lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Lightly tart taste. Some light bitter, little sweet in the finish. Dark fruit, very light candy sugar, light spice. Tasty. Hides the ABV well.

Bottle courtesy of jtclockwork. Pours a hazy amber with a khaki head. Nose is some apple, some sweet malt, some pie spices, some brown sugar, some ripe fruit, and some midl metallic quality. Flavor is similar with some pie spices, some sweet malt, some cinnamon, some ripe fruit, and some apples. Medium in body and some metallic notes resonating followed by big sweetness. Interesting.
