Tidal Series.
A favorite morning stop of ours since we moved into the neighborhood a few years ago is Rook Coffee Roasters of Monmouth County; conveniently located just around the corner from the brewery. They roast and brew their coffees with the same dedication to quality and craftsmanship that we focus on here at Kane. We couldnít think of a better group of like minded people to work with on a collaborative project. The result is Morning Bell, our imperial milk porter brewed with their dark roast Sumatra coffee. We added a healthy amount of milk sugar to an already complex, dark malt bill to sweeten and balance the bold flavors and roasty bitterness of the coffee. The result of this collaboration is a full bodied porter with big bold flavors and remarkable smoothness.

Growler from the source thanks to Fitz. Wow. Blown away. Where do I start? Pours a dark murky brown color with light tan head. The aroma is simply intoxicating. Rich chocolate and coffee roast notes with some vanilla and caramel underneath and some earthiness from the hops. A soft rich caramel taste with tons of chocolate hitting the tongue next before encountering a perfect, delicate hit of coffee and hop spice, with tons of chocolate and coffee on the backend leaving you with that gentle roast. Some grapefruit is hidden but there. I am simply amazed at the abv as the alcohol is well hidden. My only critique would be the mouthfeel as the beer is medium to light in that regard. But that is nit picking. This is a top flight beer. Itís Founders Breakfast Stout somehow done better. Kudos.

[Tap @ dmacís] Nearly opaque black with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, nuts, coffee, and chocolate. Taste of coffee, roasted malts, lactose, cocoa, and a sweeter finish.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with tan head. Nose and taste of decadent coffee, chocolate milk, roast coffee, milk sugar, cappuccino chips and light vanilla. Medium body. So decadent and smooth. Great beer.

Pours black with a small white head. Aroma is milk chocolate, roast, fresh coffee beans. Taste is sweet with coffee bitters mixed in for good measure. Smooth and creamy. Excellent. Plus it reminded me of Radioheadís song....Morning Bellís last lines: The lights are on but nobodyís home Everybody wants to be a Everyone wants to be a friend Nobody wants to be a slave Walking walking walking walking...

Had this on tap at my favorite spot in the world, Watermark in Asbury Park. The taps are out of sight behind the bar so by the time it was served the head was virtually nonexistent but there was a slight lacing left around the perimeter that was a light espresso color. The smell was nice and sweet with a huge coffee and chocolate aroma. The taste mirrored the aroma with some nice acidity on the finish to curb the sweetness of the malt. That acidity also complemented the texture on the palate, making this an exceptionally smooth brew. IMO this brew blows the doors of Ballast Pointís Victory of the Seas which is a very similar imperial coffee porter. Well done Kane. I canít wait to see your young brewery grow into one of the heavy hitters of the craft beer industry. Cheers!

Pours unclear dark coffee in color with a darker tan head. Flavor starts with roasted malts and then a huge wallop of coffee and dark chocolate to the dome, so rich and delicious the body develops in your mouth. Aroma is faint.

This was an interesting one to try. smelled like cold pressed coffee. tasted like that + maple syrup. I get a creamy finish, very roast, nutty and a hint of chocolate. Pretty layered and waves of coffee is never a bad thing.
