COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tidal Series
Ripple is an American-style Session Ale. When we began conceptualizing this beer we were looking for the best platform to showcase a relatively new hop called Nelson Sauvin from New Zealand. We first began experimenting with Nelson when we were brewing single hop beers for the 1st annual ” Wolf Among The Seas,” our educational hop experience. We really enjoyed the subtle flavors of gooseberries and sauvignon blanc grapes that characterize this hop, but because the flavors are delicate and require large amounts of hops, we thought the lighter malt bill of a session ale provided the best base on which to build this beer. Maintaining body in such a low ABV beer was very important to us, so we added a large amount of low crystals and flaked oats to our base of Pilsner malt. Nelson is a unique hop, but to avoid a finished product that was one dimensional, we rounded out the hop flavor with a small amount of Simcoe for bittering and added Amarillo and Citra to the finish and dry hop. Ripple has the body, flavor, complexity, and the hop profile you expect from our beers–all at a sessionable 4.6%.

Cask at Cork City, 8/21. Dry hopped with Nelson. Murky orange color. Bright, hoppy aroma. Slight notes of cheese come through under the hops. Mid-bitter with a mild sweetness. Somewhat dry, with a smooth, cask feel. I liked this.

Tap. Slightly hazy golden with small head. Mild body with medium hops. Averageish and pretty generic, though the hops are pretty good.

A very respectable offering. Pleasant hop blend with the grapefruity rind bitterness I love.

Keg@GABF. Hazy, deep straw, white head. Hoppy aroma, spruce, orange peel, resin. Dry, medium body and bitterness, balanced CO2. Hoppy, resiny taste, spruce, orange, apricot, caramel. Really nice. (2014-10-02)

64oz growler from the brewery pours a hazy orange with some creamy, lacing white head. Nose has some nice citrus notes, orange, herbal, a nice gristy component too, some biscuit, some stone fruit, a little honey. Flavor follows along, lightly sweet, fruity, more stone fruit, peach, some lemon, some dried herbs. Clean finish. Solid beer.

Draft at a wedding 2 days ago. Hazy dark gold. Tropical citrus fruit and pine with white wine tanin qualities. An overall excellent session ale with a lot of flavor and hoppy characteristics. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at brewery. DDH version. Pours orange gold white head. Nose/taste of pineapple, mango, grass, light toasty malt. Tons of fruits and hops. Lighter medium body. Regular Ripple would be a 3.9.

on tap-white, yellow/gold. A-tropical/pineapple/spice. T-tropical/pineapple/spice hops, some lt malt. Good effervescence/tingle. Followed by a visit to our nearby rest stop that lasted longer than our tasting.

Lovely session ale. Bright fruity hops on the nose with some sweetness from the malts. Nice tropical fruit and wine notes on huge palate. Super easy drinker and quite flavorful.

On tap at Pjs pour house, pours dull clearish golden with small non-lasting head. Aroma is very tropical hop forward with some pine, pineapple, and crisp malts. Flavor is nice but lacking a lot of depth. Mouthfeel is too light and over carbonated as well. Reminds me of fresh all day but slightly better and more pilsner like. Nice beer but lacks the look and flavor of a top notch American pale. I’ll stick with fresh boat beer.
