3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Location/Date:Bottle on January 26th, 2013 during day 2 of Nerd Beer Epic Weekend.
Appearance: Pours a dark black with white head.
Aroma: Aroma of yeast, faint roast.
Taste: Faint roast, chocoalte, some yeast from the beligan style
Palate:Medium body, a bit too much fizz
Summary: Thanks Ben for bringing this rare find! This beer is pretty solid, only thing holding it back was the palate was a bit too much fizz. Ben mentioned it was their first bottled beer, so maybe that was the issue. Otherwise, quite tasty.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle... Clear dark-brown ale with flashes of copper and a small, fizzy, off-white head. The aroma is an interlaced assortment of caramel, vanilla, bourbon, toasted coconut and an unfortunate and seemingly misplaced lactic, yogurt-like component. Full-bodied with carbonation that is both fizzy and prickly. The flavor is sweet, boozy and mildly acidic. The light tartness seems misplaced and unintended. The crisp, snappy finish is flanked by warming ethanol that lingers a short while. This may be infected. If not, this is an interesting and enjoyable - although seemingly misguided - effort. Bottle courtesy of landhoney!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at the 2nd Anniversary. Cola colored with a 1 finger tan head. Aroma is mostly dark fruits. Taste adds cherry and a chocolaty finish. Medium mouthfeel and solid carb. Ok but a little odd.

Bottle. Brown pour with an obnoxious light brown head. Super over carbonated. Sweet with caramel notes. Infected??

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
And off goes the cork, almost took my head off! Pours jet black with a big off white head. Aroma of bourbon, Belgian yeast and milk chocolate. Taste is lots of Belgian yeast, slight metallic note, coffee and milk chocolate. Not very exciting, over carbed.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
750ml bottle. Pours a deep dark brown color with a huge tan head. Very carbonated. Aroma of candied sugar, raisin, fig, alcohol, and slight vanilla. Taste basically follows the nose. Starts very sweet with lots of dark fruit, candied sugar, red grape, and finishes with a slight roasted coffee bitterness.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
As other have mentioned, a real cork rocket. Huge carbonation of several inches and does not diminish quickly. Excellent carbonation produces a thin sheen of fine bubbles for the duration of the drink. Rich chocolaty aroma with some grapes, alcohol, roasted grains and some burnt sugar. Color is a very dark brown. Wow, the flavor of the brew is so smooth and rich. Strong alcohol presence but the massive flavor mellows it out quite a bit. Lots of grapes and prunes, chocolate malts, toffee and some dough. Donít really notice the barrel aging portion of the brew. Finishes a tad pasty malts but very smooth with a hot finish. I really like this brew and I think that this is one that will age masterfully. Wish I had a few more to lay down for a year or two!

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Seems to be awesome for one specific purpose - providing some of the flavors that the depth and íthumpí of a real quad or BCBS would provide.
My first mistake was not reading ratings about it being a cork rocket. With the final twist of the cage, I was grateful it wasnít pointing at my face or Iíd be blind in one eye. Itís annoyingly carbonated, both in the pour and the body. However, once in my snifter, I swirled out most of the bubbles in order to get to the real flavors.
I found the nose to be delightfully wine/grape oriented, with no hint of it being 11.25% ABV. You could tell it had a lot of quad to its base, but it was a thinned-out version of one with none of the usual complexity. It goes down easy, but once youíve swallowed it ... wait for it ... thereís that warming bourbon burn left behind. I personally found it to be good, not great, but my wife absolutely loved it as someone who likes those flavors but is put off by more than about 2 ozs of a BCBS-class beer.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
Way over-carbonated. Smells dry and spicy. Hops + dark malts on the palate; not particularly tasty. I hear lots of great things about Kane but continue to be unimpressed.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
I didnít really dig this one, a little unbalanced, and way over carbonated for a quad. Sweet, fruity, but lacking the complexity Iím looking for in a quad...and WAY too many bubbles!
